In the current Economic climate, you shouldn't be buying from Asda. Support your local suppliers!!

I know global warming is taking hold... but the fields in the Midlands haven't quite moved on to growing Pineapples yet!

To be fair, I live in "the city" in the "Mids" and have loads of local suppliers as an alternative to "The BIG Four" supermarkets, such as my local fruit and veg retailer, the many market stalls, and some good independent retailers.

You dont have to buy from a farm to support your local suppliers!!:whistling:

strawberries only £1 a punnet too, voted hot because i think it is a good deal and i dont have the luxury of a car to be able to shop at 7 supermarkets to take advantage, yes the fruit maybe cheap at lidl dont mean you can do a full shop there unless you like lidl food

Well, in very simple terms, getting them CHEAPER from your local market AND being able to select by hand the individual items.... Me thinks that's better in 2 ways.

For all the benefit I can see from markets, (& I DO only wish I had easier access), cheaper is certainly not guaranteed, and the offers in this deal invariably will NOT be beaten there.
It may well work out better day to day, or on average, but buying from the best of supermarket offers takes a bit of beating, that's the effect of their buying power, like it or not.
Selecting by hand is common in some markets, and virtually unknown in others, if you only buy this way, you will have a some what restricted choice in most markets I have been to, up and down the country, as well as doing a lot of queueing and hunting around. I am disabled, and certainly can't do the leg work that involves, it takers me all my time to do supermarket shopping, in the smaller branches. I have the biggest Tesco of them all very near me, and rarely use the place ,as I am physically not up to it.
When I was working, I was LESS likely to be shopping by picking my way around markets, as life for busy professionals is just that - BUSY! :-(
