£32 if you collect from store or £36.95 with delivery. There's only three reviews of the system on the site but they're all good. No information about the system on the site though, which isn't very helpful. So I've pasted one of the reviews from a customer below because it contains some information about the system.

Was a little sceptical with this purchase at first but this product is the exception to the popular saying “you only get what you pay for”. For a mere £40 this system delivers quality 5.1 channel surround sound. Crystal clear crisp sounds with deep rich bass tones. I actually bought this for my bedroom after already having a Logitech x 540 5.1 system in the lounge which I think cost double the Asda system and at the time that was cheap. In the end I moved the Logitech upstairs and used the Asda one in the lounge as I think it looks more stylish and less space ship like. Personally I could not tell any difference in the sound apart from when hooking up in 2.1 channel for stereo the Logitech system was better and created 5.1 audio from a stereo input.
The Asda system gives 75W Total from 5 x 10W satellites and a 25W Sub which is adequate for a medium to large size room. It has all the cables built in just plug in the phono plugs into the back it also has phono inputs for Stereo and or 3 x 5.1 systems. Simple and tidy setup no messy striping of wires although you might need an extension if your room is too long.
If I had to pick faults then I would say the remote looks of cheap build quality. It does allow independent volume control for front and back speakers. Also allows you to choose the input method but there are also side mounted volume and channel selection controls on the sub woofer.
The black and silver allows it to look good if your setup is either of these colours and it definitely is comparable in looks to some of the top end £250+ systems. No Asda branding on show so nobody would know where you purchased it from.
For only £40 I think it is a must buy bargain of the year!

And your point is?

£8 off is approx 20% discount. And a surround sound system with good reviews for £32 is a bargain whatever the starting price.

no optical :(

I just got a new DVD player, but it only has coaxial audio output. Will that work with this? Couldn't quite tell from the reviews if it only had phono outputs

I've just realised how stupid I am for thinking an ultra-budget surround system would have optical...

yeah, optical is so high tech :D

When your're on a budget or student this will do, for this price I expect better quality than your TV and this is what you get.

Got a 2.1 logitech kit for my bedroom and works a treat for a bargain £25, sound is quite good, not as good as BOSE though. LOL

Technical specs are very vague. I kind of get the impression that you need a source like a DVD player with a DD or DTS decoder built in so it has the 6 phono outputs to conect it up to the speaker sytem for true 5.1 sound. If i am wrong and it does have a DD/DTS decoder built into the sub then you can always pick up a optical to coax converter off say flee bay. I needed one for my old set up ( DVD player audio output optical, Bose input coax). I rang Bose and they wanted £100 for one LLOLOLOLOL. I ordered one of ebay for £7 .

I bought a little 2.1 setup from asda just for the upstairs TV.

The feedback is horrendous, cant find the reciept so its dusting in a cupboard.

Would never buy cheap sound again, im sorry Tannoy, do you forgive me X)

Still this is a great price for the setup, just dont expect the world!

I've had a look at this in store and although it's cheap I think you'd be better putting your money towards something better, don't expect to be getting DD or DTS from your DVD player with this I believe it's only pro-logic.

Atrocious. The sad fact is though, I just know that there will be people out there who will buy this, despite having spent £500+ on their TV.

Agreed. Same people who have it hooked up over 50p scart and composite cables.

With the cheap price of quality tv's these days you should be spending more on the audio than the screen. I did about 60/40 in favour of audio.
