Saab/GM recommend that oil is fully synthetic 5W/30. You may get oil sludge issues if you don't use fully synthetic especially on the 2.0 turbos.

I'm an ex Saab 9-5 owner and you have to check the oil regularly just because they do use a bit of oil. If the oil light comes on, the engine's really low on oil.

Personally I would stick with the big names Mobil 1, Shell Helix, Valvoline.

Quick question....how is it that all the supermarkets are able to offer cheaper and cheaper car oil yet the price of oil at the pumps is at an all time high? Some of the prices they have been selling it for recently are crazy - why can't they do this with petrol?!?!!??
#8
Because at this price it will probably be recycled oil. Can't see the labelling to tell, but it won't need to meet the grading standards, and even semi-synthetic labelled oil, won't be proper synthetic. They can use that label just by using an additive. You need to look at API ratings, not just the main figures on the front. Don't even touch it if you have a DPF on your diesel.
The properties that the big companies use add so much, and oil is so much more than a lubricant. It does a lot of things.
If you have some old lawn mower or something like that fine, but a modern car, you might as well start listing it in the ads now!

I used to buy this years ago for the scott oiler on my motorcycle chain, but it would never go near the engine. Buy a reasonable brand, hell it isn't that much dearer to buy Halfords own, which is pretty good stuff.
