I think that IKEA do something similar and maybe cheaper, and you can choose whickh nuber you would like(alledgedly)
#2
i think you'll find IKEA is 9p and 6p.. http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_GB/campaigns/mobilefamily.html

Does ASDA and IKEA and TESCO alike all use the same towers or do them roam using T-mobile towers of a combination... ??
#3
Tesco use o2 in my area.
#4
Think you'll find they are "all over the place" virtual network provider wise as reportedly:
- Ikea is T-Mobile based (as has Virgin Mobile been for years and years of course).
- Asda on Vodafone
- Tesco on o2

Bring that competition on!
#5
Its really Vodafone/o2 vs Tmobile/Orange due to the different frequencies they run on. In my experience, Vodafone/o2 has far better coverage in my area. Ive been on Orange, Tmobile and Vodafone.
#6
What is the minimum topup?
#7
£5:thumbsup:

Out of Stock on the sim pack

The Ikea deal allowed you to choose your own number, Asda just send you a sim card.
The number can then be ported where you want.
Have to top up £10, but then get £10 added to your account for every referral

I just moved from O2 to IKEA (Family Mobile) - I like being able to manage my account online, and the auto top-up function if your credit goes below £3 is a nice feature. I PACked up my number (Porting Authorisation Code) instead of scrolling thru the thousands of numbers offered by IKEA... Tho some of the numbers were cool - Quite a few 28 28 20s which sounds a bit like an owl... What a hoot!!

Although I shop at ASDA, I'm always aware that they go out of their way to trip and confuse people... Your choice.

Still it is a good deal. Voted Hot

tesco value package is 5p per text, not sure about call rate, but similar to ikea

however if you register the phone to your clubcard you can get 300 clubcard points for topping up with £20 of credit.

i get this voucher printed out after my till receipt.

i guess this is only good value if you are a light user.

p.s. can't use it abroad

Surely IKEA should not be allowed to state on their home page:-

gone for the ikea one as I like the idea of auto top up and being able to choose your own number. Very light user so 1p difference wont bother me. They may well reduce it anyway now asda have tried to beat them

A few more tarrif details for ASDA mobile:

Landline Peak:8p
Landline Off-Peak:8p
Same Network Peak:8p
Same Network Off-Peak:8p
Other Network Peak:8p
Other Network Off-Peak:8p
Voicemail Peak:8p
Voicemail Off-Peak:8p
SMS:4p
MMS:25p
GPRS:20p /MB

0780 numbers used to be charged at the standard rate, not sure yet if that's still the case, I expect so.
I've been with them for almost a year now, and I'm very impressed. Definately reccomended and stupidly cheap for the occasional user like me.

Excellent deal, much better than my Tesco Value sim package for the following reasons:

20% cheaper texts
Nearly half the call price cost
Can use abroad
can use for internet etc

I can't think of any reason to stay with Tesco Value sims?
#17
Wait a minute. They charge for making voicemail for 8p. It will be another cost.

so works out to 250 mins or 400 txts or combination usage not bad !

If your mobile is currently locked - mine is O2 & only 14 months old - how do you get it unlocked. I think that I heard that the local market stall can no longer do this. What does it cost?
#20
Ive been on Asda mobile for about 8 months now, i use my phone very little. A £10 top up used to last me around 2 months, now it'll last 4 months :)
Ive never had any problem with reception and i ported my old number from O2.
Great service.

It depends on the actual phone. Most can be unlocked quite easily. I bought a little 'plug-in' gadget off ebay. plugged it into the phone, turned the phone on, the gadget unlocked it.

Try googling your phones make & model number along with the word 'unlock'

In my asda they had the old prices on the shelves but the new prices were in use on the tills.

Was considering switching the wife, but she has the O2 pay monthly for £15 and she gets 200mins and 400 txts which is cheaper than this. Use to be with Easymobile in the day and we could txt each other for 1p a message.
#27
They're back in stock for anyone wanting to order some. Have just purchased one myself.

Anyone know if a phone locked to Vodafone will work without being unlocked? ....

Vodafone started providing unlock codes for free if your handset is locked to their network. This started a few months back and is something the will continue to do for the rest of the future. Just give Vodafone a call if you find this Asda simcard doesn't work

Now, now, let's not be hasty! A wife is not just for Christmas you know.

Many people have found that a chat with a marriage counsellor helps no end :p

Does the charges are per second or rounded off to nearest minute.

How do i go about it if i want to port my number to the Asda sim? Do i buy the sim 1st or ring Asda 1st?

Get your PAC code from your old mobile provider first, then buy a SIM and then call ASDA to arrange the port, quoting your PAC code. It'll take about a week.

Don't worry, I'm fluent in balmad!

I don't know the answer, but I expect it's per minute. Next time I make a call I'll work it out and post back...

I picked up an Asda Sim yesterday. No charge for the SIM as I bought £10 credit at the same time.

Then I logged on to 18185.co.uk and sent txts to all my contacts telling them my new number at 1p per txt. Sweet. Also gave me the chance to "eliminate" a few contacts from my new number too!!!
Hot.

Anybody know what is Asda Mobile's unlocking policy with their phones? Do I have to pay a fee to get an Asda Mobile unlocked or is there a minimum term policy?
#40

My PC has dicided not to open PDFs today - does anyone know the prices for using, calling , and data abroad?

Cheers
