having one of these for dinner tonight, usually only ever eat El Paso or Discovery ones, couldnt resist trying this kit for a quid....maybe i should hold back with the heat till ive tasted it lol

I've had these and Tesco ones in the past and they're pretty much the same as El Del's at a fraction of the price! Only problem was I "Had" to get some Jalapeños with them which some how are always a fortune!

Biggest Con is the el del/discovery taco kits, if you buy the powder and the tacos seperately its usually much cheaper!

Home bargains usually sell big jars of jalopenos for under a quid.

El del paso? Surely you mean Old El Paso :p

Get the El Paso ones when they're on offer instead.

Alternatively make your own and get proper sized wraps.

Asda had Old El Paso jalapeños and tacos/torillas on sale for 2 for £2 couple of weeks back.
#9
Agreed. . . .but they're not on offer! and these are pretty good and a steal at £1

Saw these today. Would have picked some up if there was an Enchiladas kit in there, unfortunately there wasn't.

Decent price, but probably what these are worth. I can't believe anyone buys the brand names for £3+, there is barely anything to the kits.
#11
Nah you pay £1 for just the floor Tortillas alone, your probably right for Nachos one though!

But still 2x Salsa and big bag of chips ain't nowt to sniff at for a £1.

Tortillas are less than a quid, you can get them for 60p or so. A few pence worth of ground spices and some salsa don't add up to much.

Don't get me wrong, a quid is a good deal, I'm just amazed how expensive the brand ones are.

Wheat flour tortillas are not in any way Mexican. Why can't Asda stretch to cornflour and do things properly. Wheat tortillas in the US equate to approx. 1.5 cents each. They are dirt cheap.

£1 for the contents isn't a bad price, just don't kid yourself that these are authentic.

Ha, bought one of these last night for dinner.
not bad but not vas good as the old el passo ones. the "salsa" in particular is dissapointing. not a single piece of tomato in it... just a sauce... and a sweet one at that, no spice.

but for a pound its still a good deal so heat!

We eat LOTS of wheat flour tortillas in Mexico mainly in the Northern States that border with today's USA. The whole states of California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, as well as parts of Wyoming, Colorado, Oklahoma and Kansas in the US used to be Mexico (I'm not going to get into how the US got all that land), so it would be normal for all those States to consume loads of wheat tortillas. A bag of 500g of wheat tortillas costs about 70p in a Mexican supermarket, but corn tortillas (which I prefer) are dirt cheap, so it amazes me how expensive things are over here.

Had the nachos, the bean salsa tastes alright TBH. I notice Lidl have a mexican event on at the min, grabbed some jalapenos from there in the end.

Just a heads up, Lidl have pickled Habenaros in the mexican event thingy for 59p a jar. Had some on the nachos last night, today my stomach feels warm!

Bah, went back in to stock up on nachos and Stafford has run out. Plenty of fajita kits, but they require effort!

Home Bargains have red or green jalapenos for 89p per large jar (those links are to the same ones but not at HB). Not as good as the habaneros though!

Expired now just checked my shopping basket and back up to £1.91 !
