Smart price Beef Mince 400gm just 40p = £1 per Kg
I buy this all the time, good mince, just strain off the excess fat when cooking.

voted hot but there is no way i would eat it. Great if you have large dogs. Cheap mince is usually made of meat trim & heart.

Ewwww smart price meat:w00t:
#3
Thanks for this one.
Worth buying for the Dog!!!
#4
yuck id rather not eat anything at all
#5
everyone is being overly harsh about it. I dont eat it, but some people do!!
#6
Says it's 100% beef.
#7
I'd rather turn vegan. Is there any 'meat' in this at all?

Cheers for the heads up, ignore the food snobs. People in the UK really are funny about their food at times, happily eat processed microwave crap but not the ingredients used in them! Be thankful its beef though, if it was chicken you'd be lynched!

EDIT: Hmm, its 25% fat, which I thought was a tad excessive! But the organic stuff is 19% so not far off, just costs less than a fith of the price.

Its not about the fat content, its about what else is actually in it. There is no way that anything other than the cruddiest bits of mechanically recovered beef are put into this. There is nothing snobby about it.

This is fine, its people who wont buy from aldi etc, its got the same food and health and safety as everywhere else.

cheap does not always mean bad
#15
Ordered some of this in bulk last month, thought I'd give it a shot with it being 100% beef and not sounding to bad with the ingredients. Upon cooking it was absolutely foul to a lack of taste and grease, needed a lot of chilli/tomato.

No wonder there are so many people starving in the world if this is the level of waste the UK deems OK. I am all for using every part of an animal, if you're going to kill it you should use it. There is nowt wrong with this, and its got a higher meat content than quorn yet the self righteous lot will eat that! Of course its not steak, its not steak prices.

Look at the calories, the carbs and the fat content, among other things. Food is fuel at the end of the day, if I have a choice between £1 a kilo and £4 the £1 stuff wins every time. I don't earn enough to be that picky, thats why I'm here!

exactly what I had to do when I tried this last time! :x

made a spag bol and for the first time ever, had to bin it after a few mouthfuls. This "beef" is like old string and not even fit for pets. In fact, this is cheaper than the cheapest dog food!

It really is that bad.

Yeah, but TBH mate I rarely bother nowadays. Certainly not food items anyway, no point. You post something cheaper than anyone else can find, then get hammered by the animal welfare lot and the veggies. I don't mind vegans though, at least they aint half-hearted about it all. A veggie is just a vegan that aint got the balls to see it through!

Strange, my two dogs left their winalot and really enjoyed this, and it was cheaper than the tin!! --- Mad German shepherd :whistling:

It's true though, people saying they can't afford "better" food is a cop out.

There's always something one could cut out of their lifestyle to eat better if they choose to,whether it be the internet, ciggies, alcohol, mobile phone,a new outfit.

MOST choose not to do without other "luxuries" and buy cheap food instead.

Each to their own and all that:thumbsup:

I don't think you get it.

They take all the nice meat from and pack it with a £3 price label. They take the crap that's left (it won't kill anyone so no H&S rule broken) and pack it with a 40p label...

As for the 100%. I don't care if I buy mince that's 80% meat...it's the other 20% that may be an issue..
