There is going to be that big discussion as to whether this tastes nice or not ! :P
banned#2
Haha, yup sure is :P

It's a good sauce, if you strain all the raisins and bits out. Not voting on price though, been cheaper than this before. Though just for the jar and lid, if you make your own jams etc - it's good!
#4
We love this in our house, great with some boiled rice and a bit of naan. Prob tastes good because it costs so little lol.
banned#5
Yeah, 9p for the jar is good (:
#6
just go and have a look at it in-store, then you would get to know that its not really a deal.
I would not even get it, if its free.... (no-offense to any one) but thats just my opinion.

i'm sorry - but just what kind of rubbish do you think goes in this for the company to be able to sell it for 9p - I'm hoping nobody is putting this in their kid's mouths! You can make a curry sauce cheaply with just a few herbs and a can of tomatoes.... FAR better for you I'm sure. cold.
#8
good price for a base sauce and then adding yr own herbs etc to it

From now on I'm voting cold to all ready meals/fast food takeaways as they can be made cheaper at home :) .

I've tried this and it is vile! Also, it has too many additives and E numbers in, I'd avoid it if you are a reasonably healthy person.

i think this tastes AWFUL! i wouldnt ever buy it again, same with tescos value one which is about 12p. awful
#13
Sainsburys one is 9p aswell, are they same ?
#14
No no no. This stuff will be nasty. M and s ones are half price (around 80 - 90p) the now. Well worth getting.

You should be on masterchef or something if you can make curry with tomatoes and herbs.
No spices?

eeeuuugghhh grotesque

Asda would have to pay me to eat this stuff.
#19
i have this all the time, its nice with chunks of chicken and rice, :)
#20
Use the sainsburys one as a "chip shop curry sauce" works out cheaper than a 50p pot and tastes the same. Wouldn't use it as a proper curry sauce, would be a waste of chicken!

Ingredients

Water , Tomato Purée , Onion (5.0%) , Sugar , Sultanas (3.0%) [contains Preservative (Sulphur Dioxide)] , Modified Maize Starch , Creamed Coconut (2.0%) , Vegetable Oil , Curry Powder (1.5%) [Coriander, Turmeric, Rice Flour, Fenugreek, Cumin, Mustard, Salt, Ginger, Black Pepper, Paprika, Chilli , Nutmeg, Fennel] , Salt , Onion Powder , Acidity Regulator (Lactic Acid) , Garlic Powder , Cayenne , Turmeric .

Yup lots of E numbers there!! Maybe read the label before you sl.ag it off eh?

Personally I don't like this sauce, it tastes a bit watery to me, but if you add some more spices then it's probably much nicer. Still doesn't make it poison though!!

Absolutely perfect as a base sauce. Can't go wrong for the price and it does taste nice (if you mix a few other bits in)
#23
sure you can make a great meal with this plus some cheap battery farm chicken from the Asdas.

Rubbish

That would probably exclude 90% of Britain then.:|

I work at Asda and had seen this sauce selling cheap for ages without buying...being a curry fanatic I thought it would be rubbish. How WRONG I was! It's got a lovely taste.....add a few onions and little extra chilli powder ( I like my curry extra hot!), add whatever meat or even pour over chopped up hard boiled eggs ( TASTY) and you have a first class curry. I've recommended it to lots of people since trying it and they have ALL agreed that it's brilliant! Please don't all go out and buy it....LEAVE SOME FOR ME!

Surely you're making a pasta sauce there? :-P

You have to be a fan of Jeremy Kyle or a complete skank to even contemplate buying this filth.
#28
Its the best......Its only 7p in aberdare asda, so always stock up on a load as they always run out very quick..
banned#29
tried it a few times and its not THAT bad like you are all making it out to be! for 9p its good enough to throw over some chips or chicken

Yeah that's coming from a person called 'Drooler'.... so you buy it then I take it Drooler? Whilst you're watching JK in your jogging bottoms and vest ;)

Actually this curry sauce is ok and is tasty if you add onions, peppers e.t.c. Quorn or chicken e.t.c. Some people need to save money so eating a meal like this once a week instead of getting a takeaway can save £20 or so.

This sauce was only 4p last year though.... it goes up and down in price all the time.

My daughter and her fiance have been buying this for a while, just to get the jars for jam, as other people have also commented. :)
#32
nice sauce but always been 9p

sorry but wouldnt touch any smartprice stuff with a bargepole, not loaded or a snob, far from it but i do believe with food you get what you pay for and you should always try and get the best quality you can afford
#36
bit saulty but actually not bad
#37
so 1 jar of Levi's Caribbean Curry or 20 jars of Asda Smart Price. Certainly good for people on a budget or students maybe. Personally, never tried it but think ill pick 1 up.

great with some boiled rice and a bit of naan.

I also find it works well with a plate. It's compatible with knifes and forks too!
