DCI Gene Hunt, (Philip Glenister) the Neanderthal copper last seen in Life on Mars in back. Joined in London by his faithful sidekicks, DS Ray Carling (Dean Andrews), DC Chris Skelton (Marshall Lancaster) and a brand new red Audi Quattro, Gene is ready to take on the "southern Nancy" criminal scum and show the Met a thing or two about policing.

Only this time it's 1981 and the world has changed: Charles and Diane are about to marry, there's been rioting in Brixton and there are perms, pastel suits and cocktails all around him. Worse still, Hunt has finally met his match with the arrival of DI Alex Drake (Keeley Hawes), a sexy sophisticated police psychologist from 2008 who has studied the world of the now deceased Sam Tyler.

When Alex is shot and wakes up in 1981, she realises she has assimilated Sam's fantasies with her own experiences to create this world. She needs to do everything in her power to keep fighting, to stay alive and to get back to her daughter Molly. To a soundtrack of Duran Duran, The Clash, OMD and The Human League, sparks fly as Hunt and Drake grapple with each other and the world around them.

Decent price, rubbish series. Bring back John Simm
Stunning price, cracking series. Better than Life on Mars IMHO. Thank you
The Second Season was excellent, first series had a slow start. Cant wait for the final Season 3....We find out who Jean Hunt is !?

John Simms character, there is strong rumour that he will be in season 3...1 Episode ......!? Dont want to spoil it ...
While I prefered the stunning 80's soundtrack (yes some good music was made in the 80's), Life On Mars was (imo) by far the better series.
Second series was better than the first by a long chalk, but still falls a long way short of the mark compare to Life on Mars. The music is worse and gererally the whole 80s era is less iconic than the 70s.
coincidence from a comment posted yesterday?
whatever, a great price for a great show
Good find!
Great series, great deal!
Whilst I liked Life On Mars, looking back, I preferred the 80s over the 70s, so preferred this series, especially as I'd seen Keeley Hawes in Spooks before (top totty, and good actress IMO).I guess it depends on which era you prefer, or grew up in, as you'll relate more to the fashion, music, cars etc, or maybe it's because after watching Life On Mars, you knew what to expect from the series, same back in time deal, different decade, so it didn't have quite the same impact.

Heat added.
every time I hear her voice I keep thinking of Lara Croft on the PS2 :-)

is this the one what has just been on the tv? I watched all of them and missed the final :(
Great series. Good deal.
Life On Mars was great as well.
Just preferred Ashes To Ashes of the two.
When I see Keeley Hawes, it reminds me of Tipping The Velvet :)
