I'm a total beginner who wants to lose weight through running around my local area. An article in the Daily Mail (hate the paper to be honest, but the article made sense) rated the Asics Gel Nimbus as the best running shoes for a beginner like me. I have no idea whether that's right, but the article is here:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1089076/The-good-trainer-guide-Running-cheap-way-fit--wrong-shoes-expensive-mistake.html

...and this was by far the cheapest deal for the shoes which best suited me.

AirMesh and Synthetic Leather Upper with 3m Reflective.

Asymmetrical Lacing, Biomorphic fit and Personal Heel Fit combine to ensure the perfect fit, improved comfort, reduced injury risk and enhanced performance.
I.G.S Impact guidance system allows the foot to perform in a natural manner and enhance natural gait.

The Solyte Midsole provides exceptionally light midsole with excellent bounce back and durability, Rearfoot and Forefoot Gel offers shock absorption and the Space trusstic allows more efficient foot function.

The shoe also features a Gender specific midfoot design. AHARplus heel reduces excessive wear on the heel. Removable duo density moulded ortholite sockliner.

Every runner is different and you need the shoes which match your gait, and relate to whether you pronate or suppinate. Best to go to a specialist running shop and get assessed as it will not only mean you get the right shoes but also avoid injury.

Cold because of the price or cold because they're not a good choice?

I've given it some heat because these are good shoes at a reasonable price.

Harmony999 is right, that you should get assessed in a proper shop to work out what support you need for your running.

I made the mistake of getting some neutral shoes thinking that they wouldn't make a huge difference to my typical pronation. Wrong. 4 months off due to plantar fasciitis and there is still on going signs of weakness. However, I had been overcompensating with my hips and knees, so its been a gradual build up of problems, that I was unaware of until the underfoot injury struck.

If you are going to run, then its worthwhile spending (what I certainly thought was a lot of) decent money on the correct shoes. You only get two feet, so look after them.
