you can set it up for someone else - I've done loads. Renewal is optional by either donor or recipient not automatic. For anyone who can get to Port Lympne it's a lovely gift as the pass can be used everyday for a year and includes a ride around the safari park each time.

Fair enough then. Although I still feel it would put a bit of undue pressure on the recipient to pay again next year. Which isn't the best for a gift.

Why on earth would it put the slightest bit of pressure on them to renew it? It's a wildlife park... You aren't saying "I've rescued this orphan in Ethiopia for you, after a year decide whether to keep helping him or let him die"...

Firstly, calm down. Me saying there's some pressure isn't even close to saying not paying is going to kill the animal. That's just ridiculous.

This is an adoption. Of course its implied that this is a long term thing.

Captive Kent gorilla family to be released in Africa

The family of gorillas is headed by a 30-year-old male called Djala who was rescued from poachers in the 1990s

Eleven gorillas based in Kent will become the "first" captive family group released into the wild, according to a conservation charity.

The Aspinall Foundation said it would release the family of western lowland gorillas in Africa early next year.

Gibbons, Javan langurs and two elephants will also be released.

The charity, based in Port Lympne and Howletts Wildlife Parks, said the gorillas would be moved to areas where they had been hunted to extinction.

Damian Aspinall, from the foundation, said it would be the most ambitious and wide-ranging reintroduction of endangered species ever undertaken.

The gorillas will be taken to Africa and released in 2013

"We passionately believe that the days are long gone when it could be seen as justifiable to keep animals in captivity simply for the purposes of display or education," he said.

"True conservation must be fundamental to the existence of any collection of captive animals in the 21st Century."

The group is headed by Djala, a 30-year-old male gorilla who was rescued from poachers in Africa and brought to Port Lympne, Kent, in the 1990s.

His family consists of his five "wives" and five offspring aged between six years and eight months, who were all reared in captivity.

The charity manages two gorilla rescue and rehabilitation projects in the central African countries of Gabon and Congo, and said it has successfully reintroduced more than 50 gorillas back into the wild since 1996.

oooh hot. The Vikingettes will like this. We used to have the annual pass for both parks at close to £180 for the family, so the Howletts Zoo Park for one park is a bargain.

They've change the Port Lympne admission so that it now includes the safari truck.
Ok if your near by, too far to go more than once for me

This is an excellent deal. We live in Kent and my husband & I have an annual pass. Both sets of parents are visiting us in June and we were planning to go to take them to either Howletts or Port Lympne. We've been able to get half-price tickets for all of them and the best thing is that we haven't had to nominate a day.
and they're valid for 12 months!
brill find have booked to take the kids
Very good deal. Good find. Went there in April and it was amazing.

ALSO if you go buy train they will pick you up by mini bus from the station and drop you back there later. All you have to do is ring the number on the sign located at the train station.
I don't understand who would vote this cold. Excellent deal, thanks OP, +1 h&r
