(First post!) This is one of the first nettops (netbook, but a PC) to be released with nVidia's hotly-anticipated ION architecture. This is the best price I've found, and was delivered pronto (though eclipse do have some bad reviews on google shopping). Mine's running Windows 7 superbly. The best thing about this nettop though: 40w max power drain! That's around a quarter the power that regular PCs require, so this is an ultra-green as well as a space-saving solution.

Im confused it says:

Full HD 1080p (Blu-ray /HD-DVD)* playback

and yet the optical drive in the machine is :
DVD - DVD Super Multi (Slim type)

So its saying if you install a blueray drive that it will then play blueray disks, humm who would have guessed it. :)
#3
Nice find, I think the Acer aspire Revo was the first ion nettop though.
#4
The Blu-Ray playback is one of the things that differentiates the Ion part of this over the original Intel graphics that were used on the first Atom machines. So, if you want a machine that will do this, you'll need to get one with an Ion chipset and not a pure Intel one.
#5
I think they're delaying releasing one of these with a blu-ray drive, as the cost is still too high. in the states the addition of the blu-ray drive over the dvdrw drive almost doubles the price!
#6
The inclusion of the optical drive makes this net-top rather thick (or tall when flat on the side)...

any word guys if eclipse are trust worthy?

good deal , only flaw is the lack of wireless (i use wired anyway) and the lack of full hd audio out (outputs standard dd 5,1) , i only have a 5.1 system anyway so not really bothered .

Must be one of the worst retailers on the planet; Give them your money at your peril, their online stock checking system is a joke and you'll waste days trying to get your money back should it be out of stock when you order.

Laughable customer service.

Hi bro, can you give details of the packaging , box condition ,etc

I personally won't use eclipse if I can help it. I used to work for them about 8 years ago and I'm still recovering from the abuse of customer's rights. Shadey company IMO!

I left after I was essentially held against my will, along with some other employees at the end of a saturday shift. We were made to clear a backlog of RMA items which they wouldn't swap etc. It took about 3 hours.

packaging was all good, everything new and unmarked.

the asrock itself so far is performing very well. im using windows 7 over two screens and loving it so far - the first time i'm happily being pried away from xp. the only thing its perhaps lagging on is multitasking with loads of windows open. thankfully, the ram is upgradeable to 4gb and so i've ordered two 2 gig sticks for £30 off ebay. also, i havent been able to overclock it to 2.1 ghz as the review states - only 1.9. but then it is boiling in my bedroom right now... overall im v happy with it as it fills my criteria of being small, energy efficient, quiet, cheap, and fast enough for win 7. if you need it for pc games though, i'd probably stick to a watt-guzzling tower desktop.

Pray that nothing ever goes wrong with it, then ;-)

I had my first brush with Eclipse in the late nineties. I ended up driving down to Coventry to confront the crooks. There was a queue stretching from the counter to right outside the shop. Seems like nothing has changed much, but it is still in business where better outfits have folded.

You can get it £236 delivered from a company selling on EBay and Amazon, Overclocked Hardware. If yo ubuy from EBay you can get about £8 cashback on the EBay sellers fees from the likes of WePromiseTo. Anyone heard of Overclocked Hardware http://www.ochw.co.uk/ ?? So technically £228 delivered.

Oh, and I too looked at Eclipse and emailed them for stock info on Tuesday at 08:17 and I received a reply same day at 11:44 from a [email protected] saying:

-------------------
Thank you for your email.

At the moment we are currently out of stock of the Asrock ION 330 Intel Atom. We are hoping to receive new stock by the end of the week but at the moment we haven’t received an expected delivery date.
------------------------

So worth checking before you order if you are unsure.

Price quoted is wrong. It is now selling £249.69 (inc delivery).
