Master Race. pc users or Nazis?

If the Nazi party were still going strong today then I'm quite sure they would be Mac users.

Nazi policies were ill-conceived, economically horrendous, backward, ineffective and offered no real benefit to the world yet people blindly followed them anyway.

There isn't a single GPU that can do 4k gaming properly yet anyway. That 4k30 upscaled nonsense may work for the console kids but it isn't going to cut it with the Master Race.

I'm a Windows, MacOS (formerly OSX) and Linux user, they all have their faults, Windows 10 I won't use unless I'm forced to with DX12, which is why Vulkan API is so important. I'd much rather use MacOS than Windows 10, right click is much better in Windows 10, just about everything else is better in MacOS.

I actually hate Windows 10. I would go back to Windows 8.1 but unfortunately I own some games on the Windows Store and they won't work under anything other than 10.

Windows 10 they've had 3 goes at it so far, so much stuff breaks on it, customers hate it as well. I work in IT refurbishment, the feedback is Windows 10 is crap, had a call today some one bought a laptop on our eBay store, had it a few months, it did a recent update and just boots to a back screen now, can't repair it over the phone/team viewer etc so has to come back.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_10_version_history#Creators_Update

They've had 3 goes so far, and more are coming :\

"Windows 10 Creators Update or Windows 10 Version 1703 codenamed "Redstone 2", is the third major update to Windows 10 and the second of the 4 major updates planned under the Redstone codenames."

I replaced my CPU last week and the first time I tried it Windows 10 just broke itself and got stuck in a boot loop. I ended up using an old Windows 8 DVD to repair it.

Windows 8 wouldn't update to 8.1 here without unplugging all my SATA drives but the master. No issues with 10 yet.

If you're buying a K-CPU then you might be able to find something newer and better than this.

That was true of Windows 8 but not of Windows 10, Windows 8 worked but was a shock to the system, since I've had Windows 10 I've had wifi issues, had the start button refuse to work (the start button is quite useful), etc.

It's getting a little more reliable with each update though

Windows 8 was a risky bet and was ahead of its time. People just took a look at the Start menu changes and immediately jumped to the conclusion that it was crap. I've heard it compared with Windows Me and Vista in the past which is just completely unfounded.

Those wifi issues are nothing to do with Windows 10 in itself. its to do with the drivers for your wifi card.

Driver's for individual pieces of hardware (which there are tens of thousands) arent the responsibility of Microsoft. you'd need to troubleshoot that particular wifi card and see if theres an updated driver for it. the responsibility for that likes with the manufacturer of that hardware component..

I'm looking at i5-6600k. i7-6700k is available at around £310 at a retailer but can't really justify it. The colour looks nice on this board but any other recommendations would be helpful. New processors are coming soon, is it better to wait? Not sure what to do.

Is this for gaming? I'd advise against an i5 if that's the case. i5 has been the sweet spot for PC gaming for around the last 6-10 years but now games are starting to use Hyper Threading. I recently had to change to an i7 because my old i5-6600 couldn't hack it in Battlefield 1.

Yes but this is designed more for BCLK. On a regular Z board and K chip you can just edit the multiplier as you see fit.

OK then explain to me why the Windows 10 Store and the app container system that it uses are both so crap. That's nobody's fault but Microsoft's.

From my research, I've been seeing this mentioned a couple of times. It's not full on gaming all the time. More media (HTPC) with gaming at 1080p or 1440p.

Windows 10 had a problem with wifi and vpn in general, it was fixed around august time, you may be aware of it as it was a big enough problem to get on the news.

The start button was a more worrying issue, clicking it had no effect

It depends on what game you really want to play but just from the top of my head R6: Siege, The Division, BF1 and Dishonored 2 all use Hyper Threading. The resolution you play at won't make much difference because it is more to do with the physics processing etc.

You could look into the i7-6400t which could be perfect in your scenario and would compliment this board really well but I'd advise doing a lot of reading up on it first and careful not to confuse it with the i5-6400t as that is something different.

Yeah. And unless you want to overclock a K CPU then you only need a B or H series board and not one of the more expensive Z versions.

Built first PC in 98, Windows 10 is OK unless it goes wrong, some hardware configurations it does not like and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for that.

A few months before 8 was released, Intel strong armed Microsoft into lowering the minimum specification so intels onbourd Gfx meet the spec, result win 8 ran slow and clunky.

Exactly, it was the BIOS that were patched after Intel put the pressure on. They never actually blocked it through microcode. You just need to use a custom BIOS to re-enable the feature on some boards (and no prizes for guessing the sources of those custom versions).

Maybe then you should alter your OP to inform potential buyers that if they want to OC non-K they'll have to hunt down a custom bios?

No because this will have the right BIOS out of the box. AsRock disabled it in one update and then re-enabled it a month or so later. The chances of it having the non-BCLK BIOS on it are extremely small and in that unlikely event you would just need to go on the AsRock website to download a new one. Hardly hunting anything down. What I said above about custom ones mainly applies to MSI, Asus and Gigabyte.

This has been at this price for some time now.
Furthermore, its a very bad board for Skylake, many errors with it and has lack of overclocking capabilities.
Plus OP saying that there isnt a single GPU that can handle 4k yet LMAO.
Say that to my build.
