Truth is Written in Blood...

"I will seek vengeance upon those who have betrayed my family, and uncover a conspiracy bigger than I could have imagined. I am Ezio Auditore da Firenze. I am an Assassin."

The highly anticipated follow-up to Assassin's Creed features a new hero, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a young Italian noble, and a new era, the Renaissance. Assassin's Creed II retains the core gameplay experience that made the first opus a resounding success and features new experiences that will surprise and challenge players. Assassin's Creed II is an epic story of family, vengeance and conspiracy set in the pristine, yet brutal, backdrop of a Renaissance Italy. Ezio befriends Leonardo da Vinci, takes on Florence's most powerful families and ventures throughout the canals of Venice where he learns to become a master assassin.

I'm not voting, and I don't think anyone else should, and here's why.

If we go out and buy these 'complete' versions (there really NOT special editions) of the game, when they've already fleeced us for the full priced hobbled version, then what messege does that send the game publishers? Yeah, were idiots, just keep releasing the game in ever increasing increments and 'cool' sounding special edition names, until you release a final complete version, cos' we got more money than sense and we'll lap em' up every time!

If you didn't buy the game on intitial release, then none of what I said applies to you, and your obviously a much wiser person than the rest of us! :p:-D

So far this is how many editions of this goddamned game have come out:

- Assasins creed 2
- Assasins creed 2 special WHITE edition
- Assasins creed 2 special BLACK edition
- Assasins creed 2 Complete edition
- Assasins creed 2 GOTY edition
- Assasins creed Lineage edition

Seriously....I think I have missed a couple of editions there.

After the DLC for this game turned out to be pretty disappointing, Ubisoft aren't exactly top of my christmas card list. Paid for DLC is supposed to enhance the game, not merely complete what should have been there at launch.

If they keep releasing incomplete games, or charging over the odds for meh DLC, do they really expect people to buy their games at launch? Just wait until they've settled on a definitive version (assuming they haven't gone bankrupt through lack of sales in the meantime).

Sorry for hijacking your thread OP for a rant at Ubisoft, but they really are getting on my moobs.

But this is cheaper than the bog standard edition :o

Oh shock, there's not a Lineage edition of the PC version.

Also, the movie isn't out on a stand-alone DVD? What's with that?

New Assassin's Creed game coming out soon too.

this is a good price for the game without it being a special edition so hot from me

The 'movie' is free on marketplace over 3 parts

PS. It's rubbish

Yeah these special editions are getting a little out of hand these days.
I purchased the white box (with a fairly cool statue) from GAME for £24.99 a few months back. Completed the game, which I thoroughly enjoyed and flogged it. Kept the statue though.

Voted hot.
PS. I hated AC1.
#14
which is better - this one or the one on offer at zavvi at the moment?
#15
Don't bother with this, get the one from Zavvi, this one's additional content is not the "proper" DLC, just Templar locations. To get the third of the three from the Black Edition you'd have to purchase the two proper DLCs, including the more expensive version of one of them.

With the Complete edition you get both "meaty" DLCs as well as all three secret Templar locations.
Then just watch Lineage on YouTube or Xbox Live or something.

Voted cold for the above reason. The "Complete" Edition is £17.99 on their website and offers substantially better value for money:

Great game, but taking the pee a bit with all the editions (as has been mentioned)

Shall wait for number 3 now I think.

are the DLC even worth it? most people say they're crap anyway and dont add anything to the game? which would make me think i wouldn't bother anyway, not as if i care about the story too much in this game anyway as the dream guy in recent times accessing old memories (or whatever is going on in the story) is all kinda unrelative to me anyway; as more fun running from roof tops assassinating ppl. But yeah, might as well get the 'Complete Edition' over at Zavvi, unless ofcourse you have PlayFunds in your account

DAYUM that Brotherhood collector's edition loosk godly, I'm definitely pre-ordering it. I'm a sucker for collector's editions xD

If I bought this Lineage edition, could I go on to sell the game itself? Because I really want the lithographs and the movie DVD...

Oh, I agree about the volume of "editions" - same with DVDs/Blurays - How many "Blade Runner" editions have been made? and "The Lord of the Rings" on Bluray is taking the Michael somewhat
#23
I hated the first game but I am going to try the Complete Edition suggested with the dlc...
#24
Has anybody seen the Limited "Master Assassin" version? Thats the one I would buy. It contains an amazing statue as well as some DLC. I can only find it on fleeBay though, for a lot of money ....
#25
i have to say i think this is pathetic by Ubisoft, every day there seems to be a new edition of the game.. personally im still highly unimpressed with the game anyway. Good deal but a total rip off to the consumers as a whole with all these different editions.

They're not worth buying. Which is why you should buy the edition of the game that comes with them for free. At least then your game gets extended.

Plus one of the full chapters does let you fly the flying machine again.

Go for it. It's got more than this one has anyway, two full chapters and a third "Templar Location".

Not really a ripoff, you've only got to buy one. Not this one if you can help it.
The amount of editions does take the **** though, I think we can all agree.

Well....they are a rip off, in the sense you usually buy a game and expect it to be complete, and then they bring out another and its called the complete edition... but wait then something else comes out and the person who bought the complete edition is seeing a lineage edition. with every new edition the old one goes down in value and resell decreases and ultimately if you want the full game which you thought you had initially you have to then pay even more. Thus it is a rip off lol :whistling: dunno why i feel like being petulant tonight i apologise. Regardless im still unimpressed with the game and thinking of selling my normal edition but perhaps might just use it as a coaster....
#28
thanks OP, but no thanks.
like a few others have already advised, i also noticed the complete edition on sale at chavvi for £17.99 and ordered it instead. i agree it offers more 'value' than the lineage one.
sorry.
but good of you to post for those who'd prefer the lineage, though.
:)

No need to apologise for your rant.

I think you are very justified in expecting a "complete" edition if that is how a product is advertised.

Do you have your local Trading Standards office telephone number?
