Have seen deals like this in out of the way South Wales stores. I presume they don't sell well there due to lack of freeview reception.

This may be the reason they've been reduced though I haven't heard anything about this issue myself. You can always take it back if it doesn't work.
The most likely reason for the reduction is that they have Setanta branding all over the box and blurbs.

I have one of these from when I subscribed to Setanta in 2006/7 but it's been sitting idle since I bought a new telly with an internal tuner and a satt box for the footie.
It was a fairly reliable box for me at the time.
I must fire it up later and see if it still works OK. (It's in the bedroom and I don't wanna wake up the missus) :)

Should work fine....have 2 of these in the house going well....definately HOT.

Looks like they are just getting shot of the Setanta branded stuff....thought these were a bargain when they were going for £15 a few months ago

all you do is update it ASAP
if it doesnt work then return it
#27
for 2.50 who cares. As another poster said the cables and batteries alone are worth that.

A lot of Wales had the analogue signal switched off a while back , some areas still to be done in the coming months.

Has anyone tried Harlow or Bishops Storford branches
#30
Has anyone managed to find one? (other than OP)
#31

My box is a good 4/5 years old, back from when Asda were selling the Onn boxes, survived the refresh with no hassle. I don't actually know anyone whose old box didn't to be honest.
#34
Just spoke to head office in Dundee. Seems like there is no chance of finding these now. He couldn't source any while looking on the system. dissapointing!

we have 2 old digiboxes and both were updated with no problem
havent tried it on my TV as we run a V+ box anyway
#36
Bought one from CDiscount when they were selling them for a fiver plus postage. Great freeview box...if you can find them!
#37
For those asking I saw this in Ipswich (Copdock). There were about 18 of them mid afternoon yesterday.

There was also another stack marked up as £14.97 which looked similar - They were also Setanta branded. Could have been an old price marker or they could have been one with a hard drive built in - Can't confirm that though. There were approx 2-3 times more of those from memory.
#38
Forgot to say I didn't buy one so can't help much on the extra details - Know it had an 8 day EPG which isn't clear for the pic I posted. Sounds like several others on here have one anyway.
#39
None in Purley, according to them on the phone just now :(

Thanks for the effort.

But I think for 99.9% of people it's a waste of time.
