robo989robo989

Yes the original deal has expired for this...

However...

Signup using the direct link

http://www.news.astraweb.com/specials/voucher.cgi?t=h43vom3sb75ppj5

Then email customer services quoting your subscription number you are given when sigining up and they will manually create your account for you (they emailed me back within an hour to set it up).

Works out as £5.40 per month and this is for unlimited downloads and unlimited speed.

Will be using it on my new 20mbit sky ADSL2+ broadband when it comes in next few days :)

Here's the blurb...

# No Speed Limits
# No Download Limits
# Exactly the same as Unlimited DSL Plan

Uncensored News - No Discussions are Censored
SSL Enabled - Free SSL on all accounts
Completion - High number of peers. 99%+ completion
Speed - Multiple Links to High Quality Providers
Connections - 20 Simultaneous Connections
Retention - 595 Days
Posting Propagation - Excellent propagation of posts with many peers
US & EU Farms - Serverfarms in the US and EU
We Run Our OWN Servers - We do not resell. We have total control over our own servers and farms.

EDIT - Sorry for incorrect retention information I just copypasted the blurb from the old deal. It is definately 595 days and not 400 and something as first posted :)

    Good guide here

It does sound confusing before you start using it but then it really is as simple as torrents.

    Use Astraweb as the provider.

Nzbmatrix as the site to get all of your downloads. Cost £7 for a lifetime membership but easily the best site. There are loads more though. Merlins portal and binsearch are also really good. Equivalent of demonoid, piratebay, isohunt etc

Grabit (Free) as a newsreader. The equivalent of uTorrent.

Use Quickpar to repair any broken parts of the download.

Use 7zip or Winrar to extract the file.

Not sure why the OP says the retention is only 476 days. Astrawebs current retention is 595 days > http://www.news.astraweb.com/tools/stats.html

Im sure they were aiming for 600 days at one point so either they stopped at 595 or they have 5 more days left.

I use astraweb and pay about 7 to 8 pound a month on my current monthly plan. Absolutely brilliant service and had no trouble whatsoever.

I also recommend using SabNZB as the client to download the files. Its really simple to use, works from a web browser, highly configurable and will repair, join and unrar the files automatically. > http://sabnzbd.org/

I like Altbinz better, although it's not open source.

Newzbin has just lost a court case against the Motion Picture Association, will be intereting to see what happens to them.

Newzbin is screwed and a really ugly site compared to Nzbmatrix.

A lot of users have moved from newzbin over to the matrix and have already commented how much better it is and worth the £7.
