Nice find, i think the prices of all single core atom netbooks will be coming down in price as the manufacturers look to phase in the dual core atom soon.

Yeah hopefully :) and probably with all this popularity for Tablets like the iPad

On my phone so can't do this, but this needs reporting for the merchant to be changed.

I don't get it - this is just a standard netbook at a standard price. Where's the hot deal? If this was cheaper than most netbooks, or if it had better features (e.g. one of the newer n450 processors or 2gb ram) then it might be hot. But there are tons of netbooks with the same specs as this one for the same price or cheaper.

asus is a good make though. shame its only a 3 cell battery, that 5-6hr battery life will be more like 3 hrs!

I'd rather pay and extra £30ish and get a HP 311c from HP, better screen resolution, larger screen with ion graphics and HMDI out aswell as VGA. 10% code plus quidco brings the HP down to £260 ish mark

Thanx OP

I have had an Asus 701 netbook for 2 years and its been dropped loads of times with no damage, the build quality is fantastic.
I love the ultra slim design of this seashell model

They are 1001 & 1005 models, not the slim 1008:thumbsup:

1008 vs 1005

Its quite a bit lighter too, though I realise some would choose the longer battery from the fatter models.

I got an MSI Wind U130 with the new Atom N450(Pine Trail) processor for just £149 from argos-clearancebargains. It was posted on HUKD but got taken down as technically it's an ebay deal, even though it's from Argos.

Good Observation. Rep.

Folks above are comparing it to a 11.6" ION which is much farther off the mark.......
It is is lot slimmer 7.9MM. But a mere 70 grammes heabier for another 5 hours uptime.

I sm not gonna get another netbook . IMHO they are an interim device. I feel iPads are for media consumers. I am betting on TEGRA/ARM/ANDROID.

I am guessing by Q1 next year we see the first influx of SMARTBOOKS.

10"-12" screen, 15mm thick, Tegra (or ARM and media accelerator), Small flash-like SSD.
the upside will starter battery life of 15 hours and better.

Big brands will add 3G, touchscreen rablet hinges- bs features that are under used and over sold.

But for the domestic user we will have a great mainstream non wintel machine .

[FONT=Verdana]I'm keeping an eye out on this model of netbook (for a few friends who work offshore) and I'm hoping that it will drop further in price for them.

I must admit it's ideal for travelling (especially the amount I do just now trying to find contracts) but the only pain for this model is the lack of access panels to upgrade the memory along with the non-removable battery as well (there are guides on how to do this, which invalidate the warranty thought).

Cheers, Scotty Boy! :thumbsup:

I bought an Acer Ferrari One from Argos-Clearance for approx £310 incl. delivery. I have till Friday to return the item.
Specs are:
* AMD ATHLON 64 dual core L310 processor.
* 3GB DDR2 RAM.
* 11.6in screen size.
* HD resolution 1366 x 768 pixels.
* 250GB hard drive capacity.
* ATI RADEON HD3200 graphics.
* 256MB graphics memory.
* Multi card reader.
* 3 USB ports.
* Dolby Home Theatre.
* 0.3MP webcam.
* 802.11 b/g wireless enabled.
* Windows 7 Home Premium Software operating system installed.
* Spill resistant keyboard.
* Up to hours 4 battery life.
* Weight 1.4kg.

Everyone keeps talking about the new Atoms coming out soon, but how does the above package(spec + price) compare to 'what's coming out soon'?

and if we wait another 100years we can get a 12" netbook with intel core i700 which is 100times faster than i7; gtx29000 which is 1000times better than gtx295; 1000hours battery life and it only cost you 1 pound to get 1!

Yeah, of course , that goes without being need to be said............
but that is not really my point is it.
I am emphasising a revolutionary change away from intel (x86) and windows(high license cost)
Toward cheap fast light non-legacy computing that is closer to your phone than a desktop.

I've recently sold my 1008HA as I've bought an Asus UL30A

The HA's are a decent little netbooks but tricky to upgreade (if you want more ram)

The N280 suits it wll, got aroung 4 hours from battery.

I got mine in January from a post on here for £199 :thumbsup:

I want a netbook and finding it difficult to choose between this Asus 1008ha and the HP 311c

Asus -slim, small, light, sexy, large harddrive, better keyboard but not easy to upgrade, glitchy, scratchable
£230 http://www.simplyasus.com/Asus_Eee_Pc_1008HA_679669.html

HP -fat, powerful DDR3, larger screen, easy to upgrade, seperate graphics, but poorer battery, heavier, small Harddrive
£250 http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=189898
