You could assume this has a 2GB stick in it. When you get it run the Crucial memory checker and buy either

or
http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=3328FC30A5CA7304
for £15.69 (not sure about P&P)

I'd be interested to see what people think of this machine as looking for a nice laptop in this price range.

That's a pretty sweet deal for an i3 - good find and I am very tempted. Extra log on the fire...

Here's a review of the P6100 powered version - http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Asus-X52F-EX513D-Notebook.47513.0.html

The i3 (330M) version will have more welly, but don't know how the upgraded CPU, chipsets and buses compliment each other in light of the review. The only serious ?'s over this unit are the low screen brightness, glossy screen, keyboard feel and touchpad buttons - all of which I could live with for a £300 first gen i3. Be interested to hear adwozere's appraisal.

P6100 is 2Ghz and 330M is 2.13M.
P6100 has 2 threads, 2 cores and 330M is 4 thread, 2 cores.
Everything else is identical in terms of performance. I would say about 10% difference in multi-threaded apps.

Celeron line of CPUs do not support clock speed change and kill battery very quickly. 330M would result in 30-40% of battery life.

Sorry I forgot to come back and thank you for the follow-up. Sounds good and I'm sure you'll enjoy that one for a good while.

CTPAHIKK - good points, I hadn't thought to check the architectural and embedded similarities between the P6xxx's and the first gen i3.
