Same price over on OcUK (with free delivery for forum members) and I doubt that will be the cheapest if you look around.

[edit] £23.98 on scan.

This is the cheapest I found with delivery included. Even if not hot it can be interesting option for those looking for cheap upgrade.

Would work out at £28.77 inc delivery at scan, but agree that for those of us with older boards these cards represent a good upgrade option.

Make sure this does not just support / certain supported asus motherboards. I think this must be the updated version of the U card I have (which was bought from a company that failed to put in specs that it would only work with certain asus mobos):lol .. It did work in one of the computers I tried it in an asrock mobo but randomly blue screened. I've still got it somewhere.

Good point. Reading round seems to work fine with a lot of non-Asus boards but I'd definitely do a bit of research to see if there is a known conflict with particular setups.

Hot for me - you can trust Novatech for quick delivery etc, unlike eBuyer or Scan. (or Play for that matter)
Its £26.99 now by the way. They must've been reading this !

Good comment. Wonder if it is not just because asrock are rubbish (sorry but i have very bad experience - personal opinion)
I would never say that it might be limited for ASUS motherboards.
I still think that it must be for ''any'' motherboard.

bought one for tenner the other day from my memory or 7 days, hasn't arrived yet, is this one better?

Hi all
The important thing is to make sure that you have a spare PCIe X4 Interface - I would bet that most mobos don't.

There are versions of this card which have a PCIe X1 Interface but then they only have 2 USB3 conections and no SATA

You sure it was USB3 and SATA 6Gb? If so that was a real bargain.

So it's the same one I bought. However I have no mobos with pcie v2.x so therefore 2.5gbps is the bandwidth you get from usb3 on pcie v1.x (I did not want to disturb the power leads from one of my PC's I also had no x4 slots so I used a x16 gfx slot (on asrock board that had built in gfx) which is possible but more than likely the cause of the instability that and the infancy of drivers.

You will see asus list this as being compatible with the mobos listed in my posted links to asus specs

Discontinued according to Aria???

http://****Products/Components/Controller+Cards/SATA/Asus+U3S6+2+Port+SATA3+(6Gbps)+%26+2+Port+USB3+Superspeed+PCI-E+Combo+Controller+with+NCQ+?productId=39805

And...if you read through the comments, it would appear that it will only work with the compatible boards as listed on the Asus website...

Discontinued at Overclock as well http://www.overclock.co.uk/product/Asus-U3S6-True-USB-3.0-&-True-SATA-6Gb/s-Support-PCI-Express-Controller-Card_26731.html

PCiI-e x4? Diddnt know that interface existed?
Is it new? If it is, i imagine most boards that have it will already be USb 3.0 and SATA 6gbps
#23
I've got one of these - it doesn't work properly at all in my Gigabyte X58 motherboard, hanging the system if you have anything connected to the SATA ports. The one USB 3.0 device I had complained about lack of bandwidth and didn't work properly either. In my ASUS X58 system, it works beautifully.

I believe that all X58 boards are PCIe 2.0.

I had PCI-e x4 on my Asus Striker Extreme. Together with 2x PCI-e 16 amd one PCI-e8.
I think that PCI-e x4 is only on High-end boards where they expact you to have some extra hardware which can not run fast enough on standard PCI.

thought this was about the going rate :/!

looks like a good little piece of kit tho :)!
defo a worthwhile upgrade for those who dont wanna buy another mobo but want sata 6gb/s and usb3!

personally i would just buy another mobo because the one i got now isnt particularly high end :/!
#28
better get a board which supports true usb 3 and sata 6 as this will slow down when they are used at the same time
