A fairly strong N speed ADSL/VDSL router, that a few years ago was the top end of the game. Amazon has lowered it to their lowest price for about a year AND its much cheaper than other suppliers; well over £100 everywhere else. Its got a gigabit switch so your internal wired ethernet can go as fast as it likes, and the wifi supports both 2.4 and 5.0 GHz bands. Its no longer the fastest for wifi speeds as its 450+450mbps but its a good price for that capability.

That's also a great spot, the DSL-AC56U for anyone who wondered. Available from Amazon, or Maplin at Amazon. I see they are matching the price of Currys/PCWorld for anyone who can face entering that emporium.

A two minute read suggests that spec wise the Asus seems pretty close to the 2013 model Super Hub 2 although that only claims 300+450mbps wifi speeds. If you have the later 2015 model Super Hub 2ac then that has "ac" wifi and would need comparing with the DSL-AC56U that Ruffuz posted.

In the same "for £10 more" vein I got one of these last week:

- I normally buy ASUS routers, but this TP-Link Archer VR600 model has IPSEC style VPN built-in, which is useful to me, and enabled me to retire the BT Openreach fibre modem I was using before.
