I have XP Tablet on my tablet. It has no special features over regular XP as far as I can tell. The onscreen keyboard and Microsoft Journal are all available in XP. 'Single click icons' is a control panel configurable item, as is click-then drag.

xp tablet is a more expensive license for asus to put on...

This thing would make a pretty decent music jukebox if you could find any touchscreeny music software

To be fair guys, you can get good (if not better than vista built in) handwriting software out there on the web. Relying on the stuff thats built in to windows is never really a good idea.

Actually, if you even look at the spec it clearly states:

* Software: StarOffice, Adobe Reader 8.0, Norton Internet Security (90 day trial version), Express Gate, Skype, Eee Memo, SoftStyles, Eee Cam & Eee Cinema

A little google search reveals that this is handwriting recognition software.

I'm amazed that people are so gullible as to buy all these ****** plastic toys that Asus are producing. Fair enough, the original EEE was cheap and cheerful if you didn't need to do much with it, but 400 quid for a touchscreen toy. C'mon; you're taking the p........

p.s. I saw a guy using an EEEPC in a coffee-shop today. He looked totally embarrassed, as he should be. I whacked him with my MacBook on the way out to knock some sense into him ;-)
#6
Was that before or after pulling out your 3g iPhone to show off?

I have no idea what this new eee is all about, I reckon Asus should stick to the core business which is netbooks.
#7
A brilliant idea in many ways but it is almost a 'specialist' POS item!!!!!

20 ", no touch screen and £300 would make a hot item.

LOL! a mac owner talking about paying too much for a **** computer based on gimmicks.

Personally i'd be more embarrassed about looking like a pretentious idiot with a crapple spackbook in a coffee shop. Ohhh... some old man in a polo neck says this computer makes me cool.... look at me.... Love me..... please?

Saying that, this is a fikken rip off.

After of course! I used the iPhone to take a picture of him looking like a Muppet first

Dear oh dear; when were you in hospital for your sense of humour bypass? :-D Fortunately your ad hominem attacks do not affect me because I understand your anger is just a substitute for your inferiority complex.

By the way; who mentioned gimmicks? Which particular gimmicks on the MacBook are you referring to anyway. I'm looking for them now and can't see them: The USB ports maybe?

I'm surprised you managed to fit through the door with your inflated ego and rather large head:giggle: I suppose when you saw the sign saying "wet floor" you did?

Touch screen PC for £400. Why so cold.

I have been looking to update my Touch screen PC for a while. I use it as a MP3 Jukebox, and the kids like to using TuxPaint with their fingers.

If this is quiet and runs cool then £400 is a resonable price to pay.

Not sure why there is so much hate on this site recently.

Actually i have a Mac because i work with them. I also used to work in an apple store, once you see the type of people who buy mac's on a volume scale like i did you might realise that 90% of them are idiots only buying them as a fashion statement. Thats why they became known as crapple spackbooks among the staff at the store.

Sony and Asus mid-high end laptops are FAR superior in looks, size and functionality. I dont have anything against OSX though, its a decent OS to work with, i dont have much of a problem with ipods or the iphone (actually once they are jail broken they are excellent).

The gimmicks are the way its advertised, multi touch touch pad, and dont get me started in the macbook air with its usb 'port'.

So in conclusion, no, i dont love you. Must try harder. D+

I remain unconvinced by your 'actually, some of my best friends are Macs" drivel. What you seem to have failed to realise, despite your allegedly extensive retail experience, is that most people but most of the things they buy, at least partly, as a fashion statement. Other people commonly refer to this as 'taste'. That's why an EEPC makes you look like a Muppet, at least to people who have some 'taste'.

p.s All marketing is about 'gimmicks'. that's how it works!
#16
I dont have to prove anything to you.

Did you ever hear me mention the EEE PC was tasteful?, i bet you're the type of guy that trolls the internet inserting 'mac is better' in to every forum you come across, that's probably why you were in the coffee shop in the first place.

The only people who like people like you ARE people like you, go away, we don't want you, we should make the worlds largest starbucks and lock you all in there. You can all sit there winking an pointing at each other.

I've just realised im wasting way too much time here and wont be coming back.

If you do decide to reply, please imagine a post directly underneath yours calling you a loser.
#17
Oh dearie me; it seems I have upset you o' wise wizard of the retail world :-D Despite your untimely demise from the forum I would like to express my undying gratitude for your willingness to impart your wisdom and social commentary upon the world.

Next time I'm in a coffee shop I'm make sure to buy a very weak laté in recognition of your debating and conversational abilities. And watch out, If you see someone in Starbucks winking at you, it could be me.....;-)

Maybe you could ask the doctor to check on your hypertension and aggression next time you're in for a checkup on your missing sense of humour?

Shame you won't be reading this though, since you've left. I'm imagining your next post as requested; such a pity it will never appear. :-(
#18
Don't think I'll ever understand why this was cold! Probably because the trolls came in. Just watch this deal be hot when it comes out :P
#19
Hopefully it will drop in price as I saw another touch screen thing a lot bigger and better spec for £400 the other day. It should be interesting as Windows 7 hopes to put a lot more touch features in, and to away the the keyboard.
Iv voted hot as although I am not willing to pay that much, I am sure others are, hell if it was a little bigger I would reface by TV in my bed room with it.
I own the eee 701 so Well done asus!!!

One other thing am I right in thinking that don't have a dvd drive?
