mac mini copy!

Not really the mac mini never appealed to me, this beauty does!

Can't seem to find the Linux version. Maybe Asus were only pretending to show the world how Easy and Efficient Linux can be.

Ahahahahhaha! Funniest thing I've read all week.

Not really, the mac mini is powerful enough to be a main computer - this is too underpowered to take on that role.

EPC netbooks are great (who wants to carry a massif laptop around?), but the desktop version seems a little unnecessary. Stick a core2duo (even a basic 1.8ghz) in there and it'd be a different story.

Seems pretty pointless to me, basically same spec and price as some of the current crop of net books but without the convienience of being portable.

Why not buy an aspire One and plug a monitor and keyboard into it?

Would make a good low power fileserver for your wireless media player or an always-on bittorrent client.

Except it's rated for 65W, which isn't terribly low power. Although it would be interesting to see some actual numbers.

There's a detailed preview of the eee box here. A couple of major points to note are:

1. No DVD/CD drive.

2. The stand is not removable.

I really don't see the point in this. Okay it may look good and be slim but just look at the specifications. It's not acceptable for a Desktop PC but for a laptop yes.
#12
Slightly pointless without a DVD drive and a small hard disc. It's best use would be as a media centre.

Well worth spending a little more for more power and flexibility.

You would be better of with a NAS for that...and cheaper too

I just don't understand why it doesn't have a dvd drive it would be a nice little media player if it did. Perhaps in a few years not having a dvd won't be an issue.

looks a bit like a wii, especially how its angled...

the price is a bit much.
you might as well just get the Netbook (mini laptop) version and just plug it into a monitor - then you have the best of both worlds!

Didn't see this post!

I have posted with recent price drop here:

More colours and system variations to come in the near future!
