I ordered one of these late on Sunday night and it arrived at 9 am today! A decent price too considering most places have hiked up their prices or don't have stock, even better if you go through quidco and get your 2.5% back. Only available in black though.

there was a link on here a couple of days ago for a 4GB version for £189.

Yeah but that was with Marshall Ward and most people couldn't use the discount codes to get it for that price or risked them charging them extra weeks down the line.
This is a straight forward purchase at a good price with no hassle fast delivery.

What is the quality of this? Is it any good for things like internet, word processing, etc?

I have one that I use when out and about wherever I can find wi-fi.

Its number one bonus for me is that it is light!

Browsing is ok but remember the screen is only 7 inches.

Great for wordprocessing as it has open office installed.

Remember there is no optical drive, nor need for one.

You can add extra RAM - mine now has 2GB although it takes a bit of recompilation to use it.

Great user forum over here.

Great - thanks for the advice.

I would hold off buying an EEPC just now unless you need one quick.

There's a new model coming out with a bigger screen (8.4" afaikr) and more storage as well as a better touchpad.

Even if you don't go for the new model, the older versions should soon start dumping in price.
#7
The newer bigger version will obviously be significantly higher in price. And this version is hard to get and will be hard to get for a while. Get one while you can!
#8
The new EEEPC will be more expensive and with problems in the production of components, will not be coming soon. Like any technology, it's best to buy when you need it - the waiting game will always see you putting things because of a better option around the corner.

why are people voting this cold, it's a good deal!
#10
Do people just post blindly? Just been on here a couple of days ago! at £175 inc. quidco!
#11
If that's the Marshall Ward deal then I don't think anyone actually managed to get it for that price. This is the best price that I could find that actually has stock available.

Google Shopping comes up with some sub £200 deals for the 2Gb and some in the 200-220 for the 4Gb.

All the ones I've checked so far are out of stock, stock expected 30th April

Dixons are selling these for £219.

Poor deal.

No they are not. It's £250 for the black one or £270 for coloured ones.
As I keep saying this is a great deal, good price but most importantly they are in stock!
I could post a deal saying I had found one for £100, would sound great but what's the point if you can't get it!

The new 900 series will cost £300. So thats £80 more than RRP of the 700 series which is £219.99

I don't think its worth the extra £80 just to get a screen that is 2 inches bigger and 4GB more memory. I would rather spend £300 on a decent specced Dell laptop.

I have the 4G Asus and a price point of £220 hits the right spot with me. its well worth the money for a cheap, well made, highly portable machine. It is in a niche all of its own. Once you go beyond £290 you enter a different market price point where you can get better value for your money elsewhere with other laptop manufacturers. I shall certainly not be looking to upgrade to a 900.

This deal at £228 delivered is only £8 over RRP and since finding somewhere where it is in stock is difficult, it is not unreasonable. Maybe not a "hot" deal but its not cold if you are looking for one of these.

.....afaikr)

What does that mean?

As far as I ?? :?

With quidco price goes down to about £223
#19
With a vast slew on 8-9inch UMPC's all being released in the near future in roughly the same price bracket you'd be daft to put up with the limits of this one poor screen resolution and the constant scrolling you're forced to endure when performing most tasks.
#20
how can anyone say that the new model "will cost £300"? It's not out yet, you do not know with any certainty what it will cost. I'd bet it will be at least £350.

Back to this deal, it's a good price if it's in stock as nowhere seems to have them. I ordered one from Dixons yesterday at £250 but with 10% off (code eeepc) and quidco (3%) and Egg cashback (5% instant and 1% regular) bringing it down to £202.50.

Is this the one reviewed on the gadget show on monday evening? If so it came across well, especially for the price. Wouldn't be surprised if it became very difficult to get hold of now.

Don't know... but they are hard to get hold of and availability will not improve given the fire problems in the LG battery factory and other problems as detailed here.

I got mine from PCW for £219 about 2 months ago; sad to say PCW now have bumped up the price to make a quick profit. Supply and demand no doubt will be their justification...
