Hot from me, i got this netbook about 6 months ago at this price due to a pricing error by a staff member at PC World.

Very Decent netbook, my only problem with it is that the headphone and earphones ports are a single combo one. But apart from that, it's fine 8)

I found the "swop-over" of the CRTL and Fn keys annoying. The CRTL key should be on the left!

(If you are use to Lenovo, you might not find it a problem but if you use an ordinary keyboard like me, it's hard to get use to)

It is a really good deal
For me the good things are the newer Intel Atom N450 CPU
and 6-cell battery, which they say lasts up to 11 hours
which in reallity means 8 hours, which is just perfect - whole day work

6 cell = 4400mAh?

just glanced @ specs & no mention of bluetooth
#14
Battery says 11 hours, more realistically it's about 4 hours at max, and there is no bluetooth.

I worked it out because i have owned this netbook for at least 6 months. Using it for normal web browsing you only get about 4 hours out of it, maybe 5 at a push.

Is this new or refurbished ?????

I've recently returned a netbook from another ebay seller Argos Clearance Stores that was supposedly refurbished and fully working and I had to send it back as it was faulty.

A netbook can do anything a laptop can do, the only thing it's missing is a cd/dvd drive. However you can pick an external usb one for around £15 and this laptop is very suitable for running microsoft office as well as internet browsing.
#21
I've read some things about this having a fairly dark screen, does anyone who owns one have an opinion on that?
#22
Thanks Neo1697, so just to confirm, in order to install microsoft office I would need to buy an external cd/dvd drive in order to install it from the disk.

Not sure what you're running but I can get around 11 on full power saving running idle (I leave it on sitting there while I do other stuff). And around 8-9 hours general use (web browsing, writing ruby, photos etc...) easily. I've got power saving properly set up though, running Linux Mint.

It's a very good netbook. Battery life being one of its better points, especially compared to the competition. I got mine new for £215 a couple of months ago, so this is quite a good deal.

Only thing that's not great is the mouse button part of the touchpad. It's ok don't get me wrong, but a bit stiff at times, makes it awkward to use. Oh and it's missing HDMI out, which I would have expected.

You should be able to do it via a usb stick, given you have another computer you can transfer the Office cd's on to the stick.

Screen is fine. No different from my brother's Samsung N110. I've never had any issues, even in strong sunlight.

Ok great, thanks for that, will buy now.

I guess the difference in battery will be dependant on what settings you have it on, come to think of it, i run it on XP with full brightness and max performance power mode.

One thing i do like about it is that i can run Vice City and San Andreas games on it which is always an added bonus.

Compared to my old Aspire one netbook i found the screen to be quite bright on this compared to most other netbooks.

Don't... please. Yes netbook can do almost anything laptop can at 10% of laptops speed. If you buy this piece of machinery try benchmarking it vs drying paint, chances are that paint will win.

It's like saying bike can do everything that car can do. Bo ll ox

I've been using netbooks for years and true they are not the speed of up to date laptops, but they can certainly do most things laptops can do, web browsing, word processing etc etc. Don't bad mouth it to people just because it doesn't do the overpowering things you are wanting it to do.

What are you talking about? I got the HP Mini 210 in last weeks ebay DOTD. It runs Windows 7 Starter and so far I am very impressed.
It boots up in under 1 minute and loads things very quickly.

I have connected to the VPN at work and can open documents over this connection very quickly.
For Office and Internet Browsing these netbooks are ideal as the portability and small screens giving them increased battery length.

Of course if you want to start playing games then of course its going to struggle.

I'm now uber confused. Will a netbook surf the internet, watch utube, run a word processor adequately. It would also be good to store and manipulate photos. If the answer is no what is the point of them?

To be honest anything would be better than our old desktop.

A 'Netbook' is specifically designed for web. They 'can' run Word, Excel etc but not as fast as a PC. For image manipulation I think it would struggle.

Thanks I got one, been looking to get a netbook for ages and after reading several review websites about the Asus 1001P I decided this was perfect, it received high scores from experts and users...and for this price its a great deal.

You can do photos no problem. Obviously larger photos, or SLR photos, it might struggle a little, but you'll still be able to do them. I do.

Browsing the web is fine. The only thing netbooks will struggle with is Flash as it's notoriously CPU intensive. That said I can watch standard youtube videos, although wouldn't want to try any high res ones.

As time goes by they'll become more powerful and multi-core etc... But the ones out there now are very handy in my opinion. I've got a desktop and 15" laptop too (programmer) but find myself on the netbook more than the others.

By "image manipulation" I guess they mean touching up a few photos - which netbooks can do perfectly fine. Also, although many things will be slower, I've used MS Office on a 2 year old standard netbook and it didn't run noticeably slower than on a standard PC.

In my opinion, the only thing you need to worry about it whether the screen will be big enough for what you want to do. For me it was fine (although I only used it once), depends on the person.
