Good find. These are very difficult to source (in-stock).
Think that Asus rolling something like this machine out onto the market is great. Am all for Open-Source Software. Read good reviews about these machines.

Voted hot.

no dvd, and no windows (not that I like windows but it is an industry standard and easy to get help if it goes wrong)

these things are tiny, more like a umpc than a laptop. with a 4GB SSD. You can also install XP on them even gives you instructions in the manual. these have been very hard to find since there release.

Windows is very easily loaded on and If you want a similar sized computer with a dvd rom(?),you will strugle to get anywhere near this price!!
A dvd player would be handy but most data is stored on memory cards these days and you can get 16gb SD cards for this .Storage and porability would be far greater.
Very good portable computer

Do we need a new thread everytime it's on stock?
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/119941/asus-eee-pc-701-4g-notebook-219-99-/

Also "NOT WINDOWS Based!! requires additional hardware upgrade ro run Windows xp" is not true.

The next versions have just been announced at CES a few days ago with 8" and 8.9" screens

Totoriko, who gives a damn the interface on the EEEPC is MUCH easier/faster than Windows! Mine takes 7 seconds to boot and a further 7 seconds to get my wifi connection, find me a Windows based laptop that'll do that. This is key to people who are always on the go, not ideal for people who want to sit with a laptop at home. This is why I also have a Dell 9400. Also I bought this product for £199 (plus a sneaky discount to make it £179) at PC World just before Xmas, so it's not a hot deal.

Hi, did you get £179 by price matching Misco then asking for an extra 10% off??

Where did you see me complain about the EEE's interface? I've owned 3 EEE PCs thank you very much and all dual boot both Xandros and WinXP. I use both OSes, Xandros for quick browsing and XP to play games. So stop barking like a dog

I nearly choked on my weetabix - the lack on windows is, perhaps, the major selling point for this machine.

And in my industry, windows is far from the standard. We use AIX and Solaris Unix and Linux boxes all the way. Windows is what we give to secretaries ;)

XP is only useful if you want games and the latest emulators. For browsing, net radio etc.. Xandros is perfect.

why are people voting cold, if anyone can find this in stock anywhere else don't be afraid to post where

Black 4gb still listed as in stock at clove.co.uk £219 + delivery. (Still playing with mine, so far, very impressed)

It is possible to upgrade this laptop if you know what your doing, a trip to ebay for example
for some "solid state" hd will make a difference. BTW, right now 2nd hand laptops are going for silly money
re this laptop

I think the supply problems will end pretty soon. So if you can get it from Play or elsewhere cheaper, go for it
