The N280 model gives the following extras...

N280 processor slightly faster clock speed and bus speed. 10.5 hours claimed battery life (versus 8.5 hours for this). Bluetooth. 1.3mp webcam (as opposed to 0.3 on this model). It also comes with a slip case. Only downside is the N280 has a glossy screen and I believe this one has a matt finish. Well worth the extra £48 IMO.

I agree totally as im looking to buy the N280 version, and i have found it for £279.97 at http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/ASUS_EeePc_1005HA_SeaShell_in_Black_1005HA-BLK068X/version.asp?PID=1376 (I don't know what laptopsdirect are like for orders, would be interested to hear from someone who has experience with them  )

this is a hot deal.

I got this one when someone posted this deal from pcworld it was £270 at the time
at this price this is well worth the money.

I've been using it for a while and it is very good for when on the move
the battery life is exactly what it says on the tin :)

Looks hot to me.

whats the pro's and cons between this and the Nc10

Looks a good price, and white is same price...
But these reviews make me concerned what will happen if something goes wrong

Think I'd rather pay the extra £12 and get it from Amazon who I have found to be good with returns in the past. Also I'm not sure whether to hold off for Windows 7 to see how much they are with win7 pre-installed or if there's a price crash on the old XP ones.

I have N280 Asus EeePC 1005HA Seashell 10-inch Netbook

It is fantastic... 280 has better battery life not sure on other details..

Comes out top in many reviews for 10" netbooks.
#15
Its a good price, but I would hold out for 2-3 weeks until win7 is released as the next gen netbooks are also being released around this date, so these should go cheaper.

Or will people be willing to pay more for one with Windows 7?! We've already seen what happened with the ion chipset, they just asked more for the one with ion and the rest stayed the same price.

My friend had an ASUS once. It blew up in his face...
#18
good price, heat added. Still prefer my Acer Aspire one though ;)

There have only been a few ion's released though. When the ions take over after win7, these ones should drop as they are older models.

I think they stopped that, but i could be wrong.

The stopped that price-drop-refund policy ages ago now. However, It doesn't stop you from emailing them to have a slight moan though. You never know, they might still give you the difference :)

cheers guys

Isn't this better?
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/495172/acer-aspire-one-d150-1bw-10-inch-ne/

It has the slightly faster N280 processor for a lower price
#25
I'd definitely wait for the N280 chipset version if you really want this one. Had great ratings and you DO want the extra features.

Have recommended this to a few people and none disappointed so far. You'd have to reckon that this will drop in price a bit soon.

I wondered this. Why is this one getting more heat when it seem lower spec and more expensive?

Ah, turns out the Aspire One has pretty crappy battery life and the screen is also a bit pants. The extra 0.06Ghz the N280 give you doesn't really compensate. The 1005HA is the better computer.

Also, remember to pick up your great value extended warranty at the same time, folks! :whistling:

been looking for a netbook for a while and gutted I missed the Dell deal but the increased performance of ION looks like I might wait:

Should be able to pick up something for not much more than this Asus with Win 7 shortly after Xmas :santa:

- fingers crossed.

Unofficial battery maybe? (Stories involving explosions usually involve unofficial cheap and nasty batteries from China).

Did he get any compo off Asus (where there's a blame there's a claim and all that).

The only currently available ION-based netbook, the Samsung N510, is a shockingly high £450. It doesn't have anything fancy, still has the standard N280 Atom processor, 1gig RAM and 160GB HDD. Spending an extra £200 just for the graphics seems a bit OTT

True but that is now when ION is new and not Jan 2010. Decided to hang on and see whats around seeing as I don't need it urgently.

while i wouldnt pay the extra for the n510...
it does have an 11" screen with a 1366 x 768 resolution which will make it much more useable for prolonged use.
Oh, and a quick google says you can find it for £390

Whats an Ion chipset?

Looking for a netbook to take into lectures and seminars. The OP's deal/netbook seems really good.
#35
[FONT=Verdana]Taken a quick just now and the price has now been reduced down to £239.97p - this still includes free delivery of the netbook as well.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Windows 7 is imminent and the reason the price has gone down. Wait and it will no doubt drop more. The higher spec N280 model in white has dropped in price by £24.03 in the last few days.

thanks for the heads up. With regards to Window 7 - will the netbooks be priced higher, or the same(ish)?
