Think the shortage is coming to the end.

Personally im going to hold out for the the new model with a bigger screen, more ram and better battery. As long as its no more than £320 id defiantly get one...

Tempting though, since they are so easy to get!

Picked this model up for £180 at PCWorld due to a price error and 10% off but they've jacked the price up now! It's a very good/reliable/handy system though, definately worth it. H2W, with the larger screen and more ram, wouldn't the battery be much shorter, unless they made the system bigger which defeats the purpose?

I tried an alternative that this comes in "paper" white and has incredible battery life. I bought one of these at W H Smiths for 26p and are in stock.

Its called a spiral bound notepad

The newer 8" screen models will probably come with the newly released 6 cell battery anyway.
Also I suspect Asus will be phasing out these 7" models in the very near future.

Thats what everyone has been saying but i am not so sure. I mean asus are saying they will concentrate on ensuring stock of the current 2gb/4gb models before bringing in the 8gb (which was due out originally about now)

The 8gb has been delayed until apr/may. so i guess that these will be around for a few months yet before a new size screen version is released.

Even when the new models come out the prices will be 300+ apparently so these current models will still have their low price selling point.

I was going to wait for a new screen version but seeing as the 8gb wont be out until april at the earliest who knows whe the new screen versions will be out.

Website saying In Stock when I ordered on Monday.

Dogdy looking email asking me to call for an extra security check on Tue. Got through to someone who gave the impression he didn't really know what he was doing.

Now sitting at Awaiting Stock.

Order cancelled, not impressed with Play one little bit. Hey Mike T! Any good Dell deals kicking about :-)

There was plans to introduce them in different colours early this year, but with the crazy demand we are seeing at the moment I dont know if we will be seeing them in Pink and other colours any time soon.

Yeah, but viewing any internet content on them takes forever, and a great deal of sketching skill :?

you can install xp on it from a usb stick, i did it the other day, i slimmed down all the rubbish in xp i dont need and ended up with a 185mb iso which i burnt then transferred to usb drive and installed, these are great little machines and are more powerfull than people think, it plays some seriously good games, half life 2, halo etc

You can run Windows or just about any OS on these if you know what you're doing. But there's nothing wrong with the built-in Linux OS for what it does anyway - I doubt many people with these want them for high-end media centre capabilities.

Personally I'll hold off as I have one too many laptops anyway, and I want something portable with insanely good battery life! (the two never seem to fuse together!)
