not as far as i can tell. 99 quid seems like a good deal for tab come phone.

I notice it uses Intel processor. Isn't there a little known problem running Android on Atom processors ?

I notice Samsung dropped the Intel processor from last year's 10.1 tab 3 and went back to using an ARM processor in this year's 10.1 tab 4.

Excellent deal- I bought this from CPW three months ago and thought it a great deal at £149 then. Tablet quality is great as is display. I have noticed no problems due to Intel processor at all. As its a native phone you get to use the AYCE sim deals- I am on giffgaff and pay £12 monthly for unlimited internet and all the calls I need to make! If you don't like the idea of a 7inch tab at your ear just use a Bluetooth set- personally I don't bother! At £99 this is a great deal for a quality phone/tablet.

I had this tablet and liked it. I didnt notice any problems except with Skype and a game called Sugar Sugar, which ran a bit slow compared to a Galaxy Tab 10 ver 2. All other games fine though.

It is ridiculous to hold as a phone to your ear, but with a Bluetooth it's fine.

Otherwise all good. I paid £180 and thought it was good value at that.

when my acer tablet fails on me (which it has already once, despite only being a few months old), i will get this.

Mouse hovering over the buy button...

Been researching this tab, already have a Nexus7 - think it would be great with a Giffgaff £12 unlimited data sim..

Does this support the latest Android OS?

Could I use this as my phone - really tempted to try, wonder how much bigger it really is than phablets like the Xperia Z Ultra, Galaxy Mega etc?

Not sure if I'm trying to talk myself into it or out of it...
#14
@Rickardo yes it does make phone calls
Reviews out there don't suggest it's that powerful, however for the price it's good

Thanks - I know it can, I meant could I actually get along with using it daily to replace my current phone (without a Bluetooth headset)?

You're going to need some super massive pockets if you're wanting to truly replace your phone with it. Either that or you get yourself a handbag :p

I used a samsung tab 3g as a phone but def too big, the bezel needs to be slimmer for a start and too heavy to have in a pocket, now have samsung mega which has been great.

Check reviews on amazon before buying.

Purchased a couple months ago at £150 from carphonewarehouse, hasn't given me any issues and does the job perfectly. Brilliant value at £99.97

Do you
know how long this offer will last? Thank you :)

GPS? dont say on website

Thanks OP. Wanted a cheap tablet for my son to go on holiday. Bonus can used as a phone.

Used one of these as my phone last year, it really is great and for £99! Wow! Saves carrying a tablet AND a phone about, but this was before these Phablets started bridging the gap between Smartphone and Tablet sized screens.

Specs are starting to get on the old side now (i.e. pixel ppi and RAM) but it worked wonders, and yes you can make calls on this..

Looks a bit like something out of Trigger Happy TV with a 7" screen pressed onto your ear but you get used to it, or just used a bluetooth headset.

I have a Note 3 now and that has a 5.7" screen and is one of the (if not the) biggest smartphone screen and I still miss the 7" tablet screen at times, of course it depends on usage. Watching Sky Go or Netflix on 3G on a train was a lot nicer on the bigger screen then on a piddly 5" screen but each to their own!

I've had no issues with it, had it since March with Three 123 payg sim. Too big to use as your only phone but as a tablet on which you can make occasional calls and send sms it's brilliant. I've had no issues with the intel processor (i don't play any games on it) except Barclays Pingit app isn't compatible (pain). Had an HP Touchpad prior to this and wouldn't do without the 3g capability on a tablet going forward. It's also far lighter for my train commute & being able to send and receive emails 'on the go' is very convenient. I paid £129 and i'm happy.

apparent fix for battery issue, if and when it does happen after the warranty is up, seems straight foward enough.

This trick of disconnecting and connecting the battery connector to the motherboard is quite a popular method in getting a battery to start charging again. I have done this to other MP3 player battery, sat nav battery.. it is a pity that many devices don't have reset switches.
#33
The reason it is cheap is that the 4G model has just arrived.
I'd suggest you set the battery so it always turns off at 30%. And obviously if it only has occasional use, charge it once a week/month. Sounds a great commuter phone.
#34
The main advantage of this is for people who need occasional internet access via the 3G network and want to use a normal SIM and not a data SIM. On Three 321 PAYG you pay 1p for 1MB, so someone who only wants to download a few emails every few days would only pay a few pence a month, rather than having to subscribe to a 'data' package of at least £5 a month. Best to just use it as a tablet and use a normal-size phone to make calls.
banned#35
can you confirm that you are actually using your Fonepad with three

i am not allowed to use my 4g version with them despite bringing ito into store, they fitted it and 5 days later i was disconnected telling me the phone is unsupported. immensely annoying as i had already spoken to customer services and this phone is sold by three ( albeit on data plans) why sell a phone that can make calls on data only????

i am on three one plan with tethering

can you confirm as i am in dispute with three about it
#36
yes I'm using three`s 123 sim in my fonepad. recognises it as a phone and not a tablet.
#37
It's at 129quid now. =(

Good while it lasted.
