shows £179.98 on the website, use voucher 'TECH808' to knock off another £10 and there is 3% cashback on topcashback..

free delivery and comes with a voucher for a free copy of Mafia...

GTX 470 is still a beefy card..on par with 6870 in performance with higher OC potential and some nvidia stuff like phyx and cuba..

it however consumes more power (60+w more at full load) and it's more noisy and warmer than 6870..

but at this price....it's really a good deal..even without free Mafia 2

I have 1, it runs silent. Temp is much lower than my 4870. Amazing card and I payed £220 about a month ago.

I dont understand why people are voting cold on this, but this looks like an unbeatable deal..the same card is at £184 on scans and there's no free copy of Mafia 2..

shame i bought my asus 6870 yesterday at £188...i would have gone for this deal if it were discovered one day earlier

Good offer, not sure why it's cold.

Price should be £169 (excluding Tops), but this is a very good deal for a fast graphics card. Hot from me.

whats better this or a 460 or a 6870? I dont want alot of noise, Im sure there was a thread about a month ago where something higher than a 460 was posted, I think a 470 or 80 and people said in there that it was noisy and not as good as a 460.

opinions please.

tHE 470 is about 20% faster than a 460, and 5-10% fatesr than the 6870. It also has 256MB extra memory which may help at high resolution and high settings. Both the 470 and 460 overclock massively (if you want the most out of you card this is good), but the 6870 is close to it's limits at stock settings.

The downside of the 470 is that it is not very power efficient.

it's just a shame that these run so hot and are so power hungry otherwise i'd probably buy one.

Got one of these a couple of months ago when they first dipped below £220. It is a very good card, does run hot undeniably but nowhere near as loud as some would have you believe. Nice understated carbon fibre casing with no anime bimbo/gun wielding cyborg stickers that look like they've been designed for a target audience of 13-year-old boys. Not a great deal in the way of extras but you do get a curious imitation leather CD wallet with an embossed Asus logo, plus the usual DVI/HDMI adaptors and power cables.

Worth noting that because Asus do not stick completely to the reference pcb for these cards you can't use MSI Afterburner to volt mod them (although most of the other OC features are supported). You have to use Asus' own OC utility if you want to utilise the full range of tweaks availabe) and tbh I'm not that impressed with their offering, it still seems lacking in features and undeveloped in comparison with the likes of Afterburner.

At that price I would say it's a bargain in comparison to the still overpriced 5850/70s or the GTX480. Barely much more expensive than some of the OCed 460s and a far more capable card.

Can't really see these getting significantly cheaper as NV are already making quite a loss on them as I understand it. If my PSU was powerful enough I'd definitely be thinking about SLI.

When its idle does it make alot of noise, I mean if you aint using the computer etc, I sometimes leave my pc on overnight and its by my bed and Im hoping to build a new pc but I want it to be powerful but as quiet as I can get it, so it doesnt bother me when on and everything else is off.

Would the graphics card effect the idle sound of the machine?

I was thinking about the 6870 but this does look good as better but not sure about noise

btw thanks for the previous reply

Honestly can't hear the card at idle above the case/psu fans, so unless you've got a near silent system I really don't think you'd find this any louder than any other card. Even when gaming it's just a mild 'whoosh' which you can hardly hear unless you've got the audio turned down significantly.

Only time I could say the card was quite loud was running furmark to bench it, that pushed it to 97c, a temp it has never got anywhere near in a game.

Overall much quieter than my old GTX280 which whined away constantly in-game.

Folks, is this still considered a good deal? I've lost touch with prices.
