intergrated graphics, will run aero fine - games not so much!

Some more technical details at http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Radeon-Xpress-1100.2174.0.html

Looks like it'll support Vista's Aero interface, but doesn't look like it support DirectX 10 for the newer games.

Asus laptops are top-notch, up there with Dell & Sony. This is a very good price in my view. Plenty of RAM there for the graphics to not encroach on apps.

personally I'd go for the hp one...

I'd say their quite similar. A Personal opinion (my company sells hardware), would be that the Asus is better built & reliability. If it's an HP Pavilion laptop this is their budget range.

My opinions only:

The Asus has a slightly older processor - not that you'd notice it's still Core 2 Duo.

ATI Radeon graphics on Asus are better than Intel GMA on the HP any-day.

Asus also has 2 years collect-and-return warranty (pretty important on a laptop), the HP 1 yr (ship back).

Asus also has 2GB Ram, instead of 1GB on HP... the more the better for Vista.

Asus is Vista Home Premium - HP is Vista Business (which does not have the Media Center elements (DVD playing/burning) built in).

HP has Bluetooth which is a bonus if you want to link to a mobile/pda, but you can pickup USB Bluetooth stick for under £10.

My vote would be the Asus on this one.

One thing that I would say is that I currently have a HP laptop (zd8000), which I bought about 2 years ago for £1,300.00, so was pretty top of the range when I bought it (17inch Screen, 3.4GHz, 2GB Ram, BT, WIFI etc), however, it has been the worst electrical product that I have EVER owned.

It constantly over heats and shuts it's self off (already had to take the whole thing apart to get all the dust build up from the heatsink), the battery no longer works (so it has to be plugged in), the lightscribe doesn't work, the recorder stopped recording re-writable CD/DVD.

Totally rubbish. HP's customer service isn't very good either IMO.
#11
the HP is a HP Compaq Business Notebook 6720s

Not sure what level in its range it is.
#12
Toshiba similar here

Hi googleboogle

Not the same product code AP099 vs AP999
Asus release specific models for resellers like Evesham and Ebuyer that you wont find on their website, they are unique product codes.

celeron mate, thats why its cheaper, the ebuyer model is FAR superior in every way :)
#19
This looks like a good deal.. however is it as good as the dells ?
#20
Dunno about the dell's you're referring to, but certainly a fantastic find.

I've used various models machines from both manufacturers and ASUS are build solidly (better than HP IMHO) and one of the earlier posters has cleared posted the difference in this and the HP model.

This gets my vote. Might even buy one ....
#21

Hi, ebuyer have this Asus that has Microsoft Windows XP Pro instead of the Vista Home premium, for £10 less, would this be better than having the Vista as alot of reviews dont rate it (using too much memory etc)
