Rather have an Asus over dell.

I had a Dell before (that i have returned - awfull look) , and Acer (returned to Amazon) and however i don't like Dell products i went for a Dell.

Next day home repair is something that is really important for me ( i don't like to send my laptop away for a repairs !!!)
This is why i stopped to hate Dell.

On Dell website you can pick 17R Special Edition with :
    i7-3630QM processor (up to 3.40 GHz,, 6M cache) , 8192MB , 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 130W , Backlit Keyboard , 1TB HD , 17.3in Full High Definition (1080p) LED Display with Anti-Glare
Buy no BD-drive (only DVD writer) - but it can be installed by yourself .

    for £ 701.10

Link for this Dell (remember to choose backlit and add promo code P85KBNN1GNV4SB - they expire today) and cashback but not guaranteed : http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&kc=&oc=n0017s15

So for a bigger screen , better processor (slightly), and better GFX ( GT 650 is about 15-20% better than 635 ) you are baying about the same (£50 difference) so worth to think what do you want.

If bigger screen is not something that you will hate , and this that you will be able to add extra SSD drive, that this laptop have backlit keyboard and better graphic card then go for a Dell Inspiron 17R SE.
If you are looking for better looking laptop , smaller and with medium range GFX , but with Blu-ray then go with Asus.

Honestly if this Asus would have the same spec as Dell ( not looking for a screen size ) i would go for Asus - but overall Dell is a better choice.
Dell 17R Se have a slightly different look than 17R - thanks to anonized aluminium (nice honey mesh).

no that's good £1000 is 4 1 that can compete with a desktop price u pay 4 been mobile!

Ive had one of these for a year, great laptop. I use it for lans weekly and it gets used daily as a regular laptop.

Its been faultless, and with a SSD installed its been a great performer. I didnt want a "proper" gaming laptop, but glad I went for this in the end. Ive added 16gb of 1600mhz ram, even though Asus say its max is 8gb at 1333.

    Any questions, let me know

The GT635 graphics are pretty weak and certainly not "gaming laptop" standard. You'll have problems running modern games at 1080p above anything but "very low" for graphics settings.

yes, wanted to post this one, but... Gaming pc and windows 8 doesn`t look attractive for me :) yeach both choice look good for me.

True, but where is no BIG difference between all mobile gpu`s in laptops under 800£. If u found better when this and CHEAPER, let us know :) Msi is 15% better in all spec and 5% more expensive. But MSI.. damn worst Brand i know after Medion.

My self using GTX 680 gpu 27 inch desktop and so on, so i will never look back and even think about laptop GOOD laptop. Only for surf.
