Interested in this. I believe WD TV Live is HDMI 1.2 whilst this seems to be 1.3. Am I correct to say that 1.3 is needed for 3d material

Good bit of kit. Has one for about 6 months and never froze. Streams well through a network file server.
Only downside is that there is no BBC iPlayer

Interesting read here

WD does score points for firmware updates and 3rd party ones too.

1.4 is 3D.
Very good price though, they are rated quite good: top 3 I would say:
AC RYAN: As this will stream HD Audio True HD and Master- But terrible GUI.
WD TV LIVE: For the sleek GUI, This can bit stream only true hd, not master
And then the asus oplay. Not sure if this will handle any HD audio codecs

Surprised this isn't getting more heat against the WD which is on here at £69. Similar spec for £20 less.....gets heat from me

Viewsonic VMP74 is the only one at this sort of price I know with iPlayer. It's not a great implementation but it works.

Scan do the VMP74 for around £50 in their "today only" section every now and again but if you can't wait then it's £60.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I was going to buy the Sony S370 bluray player from Argos but we all know how that turned out...:p

How good is this/are these at odd file formats? Say, is it like VLC or do you have to keep downloading codecs and/or cinverting file formats?

Or get one of these to feed up to four devices.

I have the WM 74 (£46 from Scan at the time), great little media player, but HUGE remote with way too many buttons, lol.
Can pick up cheap wifi dongles for it too (I got one for £5 on fleabay).

I play 3D mkv's on my WD TV Live no problem which is HDMI 1.2. They are side by side videos so not sure if that makes any difference or not, but they do work a treat.

I love my WD Live, won't be disappointed with it, although the Asus looked good as well when I did my initial analysis. The WD just plays stuff, even the wife can use it. No doubt it will be superceded soon but it's been a great product for me.
