Asus P8H61-I Rev 3.0 Socket 1155 Motherboard for £49.99 delivered @ CCLOnline

qwerf123qwerf123

Very good price in my opinion. Cheapest I've seen!

Believe this is compatible with Ivy bridge and will get an update for PCI 3.0

Update:
After checking here: http://event.asus.com/2011/mb/pcie3_ready/

appears it does get Ivy Bridge, but not PCI 3.0

I think only P67 and Z68 are getting bios updates to support Ivy Bridge. Also if this was to become compatible with IB, it would automatically become PCI Express 3.0, as the controller is on the CPU - the PCIe slot is just the end of the circuit board traces from the CPU socket

No PCI-E 3.0 for this board, the controller is on the chip of the Ivybridge CPU and PCI-E 3.0 is only supported on Z77 and some Z68 boards and then its dependent on a Bios update and there's some debate about multicard setups on the Z68 when updated in those scenarios from what ive read only one slot will be 3.0 but that's hear say. PCI-E 3.0 is not the be all and end all as the GPU's we have now cant saturate the 2.0 so 3.0 is really not that useful anyway, it will be some time before we really take advantage of that and its backwards compatible anyway.

Do yourselves a favour and buy a Z77 board if your in the market because its not just about PCI-E 3.0 its the other features it has aswell. I was upgrading from my 1st Gen i5 to Ivybridge but am not now as there is a new chip early next year and it will be a socket refresh more than likely meaning 1155 will be old hat and with the heat Ivybridge are putting out especially when overclocked they are not much faster than sandybridge which will reach higher OC's due to running cooler. Unless your rig is really old i would wait we are in June now and a life span of 7-8 months before its totally replaced is a bad deal for anyone spending nearly £500 for a i7 and good Z77 board only for it to be obsolete very soon.

Well, there's always something better if you spend more money. There's always something better coming in "just a few months". if you want something NOW that's CHEAP and just want to get stuff done, it's a good buy.

No they've released updated BIOS for various H67 motherboards to support Ivy Bridge cpus - I can't see an update for this board yet but they might release one.

    Better.
Someone's seen a good board at a reasonable price, rather than looking for most expensive and ASSUMING because it's expensive it's "good value"

It's not £49.99 delivered. You have to add at least £4.75 delivery charge.

Cheapest I have seen it, yes, but old H61 chipset. As others have been saying, find one with a Z68 chipset for £15 more. Motherboards are a pig to upgrade at a later date. Get it right first time. For instance:-

    Intel Rapid Storeage - no

    Smart Response - no

    integrated SATA 6Gb/s - no

    Intel Active Management - no

    Intel Trusted Execution - no

    Optical Out - no

    RAID - no

Overclock Intel K series CPUs - in the conventional meaning, no

    On board Wi-Fi - no

Case fan headers - only 1

USB 3, yes. USB 3 header - no

    etc, etc, etc!

Small MATX form factor, great, but only 2 DIMM memory slots - individual 8GB sticks still expensive if you want the board's max 16GB.

Can't remember where i saw it, but somewhere on the ASUS site, I was certain that it said this board would get IB and PCI3.0

But then, the model no are so similar, could have mixed it up.

Still think it's great value for what it is if you want a cheap build

Some of H61 have been confirmed to be compatible with PCI3.0 by asus
