Why spend that on a laptop when you can get a console.

not to defend the statement, there is some validity in the fact that the new consoles (Xbox one s and ps4 slim) are very portable. I carry a Xbox one s with a gaems m155 screen in a laptop bag and I enjoy using it far more than a skylake 960m laptop I had. there is the fact that I used it purely for gaming and while plugged in, but I got the screen for £110 off eBay, plus £229 for the 1tb bf1 console, £25 Xbox live. £364 for relatively portable gaming. your laptop will probably depreciate that much as soon as you use it. obviously no windows, mouse and keyboard without paying for a xim 4 etc.

but in general, a bit of silly statement to argue with

Get the asus graphics dock and play pretty much any game at full specs.

Do you think you would need a graphics dock with a GTX 1060? You'd have to buy something better to improve the capability, in which case you may as well just buy a higher spec laptop.
#14
Indeed the 1060 will pretty much play most games full spec as it is @1080p.

if you're going for a graphics dock, just get a laptop with a great processor, loads of ram and a standard onboard gpu. eGPUs are great for if you need a split between gaming and work / play, just plug the dock in when you need to do anything graphics intensive. a lot more future proof too.

Can yous give me a link which provides more info on this Asus graphics dock? Can I get a powerful laptop minus the gfx card and use the dock whenever I need to play games or something? Google did say much on this.
#17
I think the i7 version of this with 16gb ram but no SSD for the same amount from Amazon is better value. Playing every single game on maxed out settings. You really don't need a graphics dock with an Nvidia 10 series laptop.

To game, productivity and any other computer usage on the move? Gaming laptops are also typically great for production due to the power they push. Ideal for a business man who might spend a lot of time in hotels etc.

I don't get why you wouldn't buy a desktop..
for half the money and better performance.
The saving to me just don't add up.
the best you will get on battery is 1.25hrs
and that's on full charge and not maxed out

Never understood gaming laptops, too big for portable gaming and not immersive enough for gaming at home. For this price would you not be better investing in a 1070 on a desktop and a second hand Vita?
#27
I have the medion one of the same spec (incredibly well built) and it comes in at 'ready' on the steamVR performance test - it's a VR laptop . A desktop would have cost me far too much space in my holodeck project

these 10 series are beasts

will i ever take that vive out of the box though...

I sit on the sofa gaming while the wife watches TV. I don't want an office desk in my living room and I don't want to go upstairs thanks.

You seriously can't see why some people might require portability?? Why do you think laptops were ever created in the first place?

I can't find one on Amazon with an i7 and a GTX 1060 for this price, otherwise I would agree and you would have seen that one listed on here, have you got a link so that people can choose that spec instead?

I just checked and you are right. It's over 100 pounds more. I bought it because it was 400 pounds cheaper than anywhere else for the same spec outside of buying it from the US on eBay. But for straight gaming power, the listed by you above is still awesome. Definitely hot!

I hadnt realised something like the Gaems M155 existed.

I work away from home and stay in a hotel four nights a week. I'd just done the latest Tesco XBox One S bundle deal and was going to keep it over here for during the week (i've another XBox One S back home but i rarely have the time at the weekend to play it) - however the TV in the hotel i stay in is small and not ideally situated.

I've ordered one of these Gaem screens now and will try it out over the next few weeks - could be a godsend for Jan / Feb winter nights in the hotel!
