this is an excellent deal for a small laptop with a DVD drive built in. Voted HOT!

Hot, good deal for a small laptop.

Does anyone have any experience with this laptop? Any problems?

Hi,
I own a similar asus laptop (a F9S, the one on the deal being a F9E), and i'am very happy of it. It is very light, powerful enough for all applications (except games, see the ****** graphic card) and comes with 2 GB RAM.
Furthermore, it supports windows XP (I just checked asus website, they have all the drivers needed to put the F9E under Win XP).
The only drawback for me is that the screen is 'color shine' as they call it. You better be in the dark to watch a movie...

Good price if you want a 'full' laptop with DVD drive and computing power, easy to transport (If you want smaller, you have to go for an EEE 900 or a WInd).

Hope it helps

Weight - 1.9 Kg

The weight might be without battery... If so, it is more like 2.3 kg. Which is still good

And as said before, Asus is a top laptop bran (along with IBM/Lenovo and Sony, but way less expensive!)

This looks like an exceptional deal for a sub-2kg laptop, especially when you factor in a 2 year warranty and the fact it's made by a decent manufacturer. Voted hot!

Excellent price for a 12" laptop.

Good price, i just got a second hand Sony Vaio 13.3" that weighs 1.85kg inc battery for £385 delivered just to show comparison. 1.6ghz CoreDuo ( the asus is core2duo)

I expect Osx86 will run well on that 12" as well

Battery life is about 2-2.5 hours depending on the task. The fan is inaubible.

What I really like about the design of this laptop is that unlike other laptops where you have to remove separate covers to access RAM, HDD, etc, this Asus has just got one panel, which gives access to RAM, HDD (very easy to remove and upgrade), AND the CPU fan. The last bit is important, as it enables you to service/clean the fan periodically so that it isn't always on due to clogged dust, hairs, etc. The "always on" fan is a common problem on older laptops, so this is intelligent design from Asus.

Love Asus laptops, their built quality and looks are as nice as a Sony and reliability wise somewhere around Toshiba or HP.

Pros:
Lightweight
Great price
Very good graphics
2 years warranty, instead of normal one
free carry case and mouse, prob you will need to check before you purchase

negative side:
Ahhh well just a tad bit difficult getting through to their customer support I guess but you dont have to beg, scream and cry to speak with an escalation hence will even give that around 3.5/5

Hope this helps !

Not necessarily - several 12" laptops are way under 2kg.

Anyway, nice price, good size for a laptop. Very portable, but still with good size screen and keyboard.

Yes, Asus do laptops with very good graphics, this model however has the bog-standard integrated stuff. If you want to play the latest games you'll have to fork out more.

Thanks for reminding me about a lock, just ordered one from Play .com, never even thought about getting one

Anyone had any problems with ebuyer.com. Not used them for several years after they ripped me off with non-deliveries, upgrade charges, and VERY poor customer service. Given there are no obvious complaints above, i guess they may have improved...

They sometimes have these in poundland. Not as good as the play.com models but the difference between time it takes to cut through them would only be a minute at a guess. If all you need is to stop people walking off with it while your back's turned the poundland lock's fine.

A few years ago my mate had problems with them (missing delivery and hard to get to speak to anyone). I've ordered smaller items from them in recent months (paying via google checkout) and it's been fine. Not attempted to contact customer support - so that might still be bad.

Is the warrenty honored by eBuyer or Asus?

Thanks.

A few years ago they sold me a hard drive with a 3-year manufacturer warranty that turned out to have just a 1-year warranty attached; took them several weeks to respond to my enote and that was just to say they'd get back to me soon, which they never did.

However, in recent times customer service has been very good. E-returns system works very well too. No complaints. I'd recommend ebuyer on the quality of service I've received the last couple of years. Certainly miles better than something like laptopsdirect!

Hey hey, i'm new on here - and this looks like a really good deal. Does anyone know whether or not this laptop has enough power for me to be able to hook up my 22 monitor in its native resolution? Cheers

Yep, it'll be just fine for windows/photo/video use !

It won't play games with it's Intel graphics though.
