As for the 'deal', these things are selling for $399 dollars in the good ol' USA - with 64GB internal memory. Or £250 in UK money. Add on the VAT, it shouldn't cost more than £300...and it should also have 64GB.

In short, this is a bad price for a good product.

better than surface 2, only software-wise as this one runs full windows 8.1 and it can run legacy app, but u can't compare it to surface pro as the pro has i5 processor, active digitizer , and fhd screen.

been looking at these a lot

guy over on AV Forums has a 32GB, no recovery partition on the 32GB, 15GB spare left after initial setup and nothing extra installed.

In short this is a great machine in it's 64GB form, I would avoid the 32GB just because of the lack of storage, and it will come down once the 64GB lands on UK shores.

Some people forget that posts shout be the cheapest around but the OP is bringing this new product to our attention and so I am grateful for the post. The Nexus 4 was really hot last year when it came out and that was RRP so thanks OP.

I think this is a really nice/interest product at an unfortunate price... the current price really sucks hard. In america it costs $350, but when priced in the uk, its equivilent to $560 dollars....that just is completely stupid. Even if you add VAT at 40% it still wouldn't cost that much.

The pricing is probably going to harm this tbh...the 32gb version really needs to be at £300 at least, otherwise there's just too much competition imo. Sure it comes with keyboard dock, and windows 8 full, that's great, but I kind of feel perhaps superior screen resolution/quality and build of other devices is going to put the squeeze on this.

Plus...It would really suck if the $50 upgrade from 32GB to 64GB turns into a whole £50...but it probably will. Overall, an interesting product, but it might be worth waiting to see how Venue 11/8 Pro, Omni 10, Miix2, Acer W4 etc etc shape the Bay trail tablet market tbh.

He is making a statement. The "your" mentioned implies you, the reader. Back to school... Or bed, you narky ****.

OP, good product, hope the price drops a little, but if I had to choose between this or the surface 2 i'd struggle for build quality vs usefulness :)

Easy there! If you track back to the original comment, the poster is apparently speaking to a previous commenter...yet there are no previous comments. They are also referring to a previous product with a useless version of Windows - yet are themselves posting a deal for a tablet that is running Windows!
Also, this is RRP - so it is not a deal as such...particularly given the exorbitant pricing in comparison to the same product in America (even when you include VAT, it is still £50 more expensive with 32gb less space!)

I am here for the deals...I'm not here to translate what people are trying to say, or pay RRP for things that are themselves overpriced!

I will be buying this or the Dell Venu 11 Pro in 64GB format

windows full version finally at a decent price with a decent CPU
#11
I've been reading about the T100 for weeks, and salivating a little I must admit :) However, I've decided to delay purchase until the various technical issues are sorted out. Have a good read of the threads here: http://www.transformerforums.com/forum/asus-transformer-book-t100/

The Dabs price sucks, for sure, compared with the US price.

Can't argue with anything you've said there. Also agreed posting a device at RRP isn't really a deal and certainly isn't a hot deal!.

To the Op...where you actually replying to someone or were you anticipating the negative votes before they happen? :p
#13
I've posted this for the same reason everyone else does. I wanna buy some kind of tablet/netbook and the comments on here are most valuable in deciding if it is a decent buy or not. I nearly bought the RT version. But already I am looking at the surface instead!!!! And whatever it costs in the US does not really matter!!!! The flights alone make it more expensive lol. i'll see if the price drops to £300. Then decide...
#14
good device but i get one from poland version with 500gb hdd in dock for 320 quid :) uk pricing is not really adequate as its straight 1-1 conversion from dollar
#15
As these have only just landed there will undoubtably be better deals to follow.

There is already a better deal from laptops direct. £345 + £5 delivery less £14 for trying Which website out (£1 no commitment trial gives you £15 off a £200 spend) = £ 336 delivered and then 1.5% quidco potentially off that.

If it must be had right now that's the best option i'd say personally.

You're just assuming he/she is replying to someone. The windows they mention is most likely Windows RT from another deal. Either way, writing "You what"...and "What's your point?" is rude in my eyes. You could have asked him/her to clear it up.

My blanked out word is only bug ger, don't think I got mega angry with this haha.

I agree that the price is a little too high, which is why i'm waiting. And the pricing isn't what i'm referring to.

Many of the deals here are RRP. A deal is when something is offered at a price...we decide if it's worth the money. So if a nexus 5 was £50 and it's RRP was £50...that would be a good deal. It's called hotukdeals, not HotmoneyoffRRP.

All the best.

Whichever metric we use, this isn't a deal :). Too much for too little. I sincerely hope the other manufacturers give us something more competitive!

Better or worse than Surface?

better than surface 2, only software-wise as this one runs full windows 8.1 and it can run legacy app, but u can't compare it to surface pro as the pro has i5 processor, active digitizer , and fhd screen.

I bet the Surface 2 runs a lot faster and will use a lot less of the 32gb for the OS leaving more for your own files. Plus the Surface 2 is FHD. Win RT does more than what most home users want, can't see the point in running Win 8 with all the extra overhead on a low spec device.

legacy apps and that new quad core atom is no slouch

Sadly everything is cheaper in USA,you can partly blame our high taxes.
#22
Was really excited about these as it seemed as if it was going to be priced cheaper than this.

I know we usually pay a bit more over here compared to the exact conversion from $$ but this is way too much and has completely put me off as it should be £300 really.

Dell seem to be pricing their Venue Pro's a lot better so roll on a couple of weeks for them but nice find anyway!

According to Asus' website this also has MS Office Home and Student 2013 included which is worth about £80ish.

Its very pricey for what you get :( Also its too plastic and cheap looking. And trackpad is very very bad i heard.
I will wait for more powerful version to come out which should not be very long. :p

I agree which is why IOS or Android make more sense in a lower spec tablet and use of something like a Surface Pro for higher spec; leaving Windows RT as HD-DVD of the tablet world.......

RT might go the way of HD-DVD but owning both a Surface RT and an iPad I greatly prefer Win RT as its just as smooth and quick but can do so much more.

Check these YouTube vids of this guy games testing on the Asus

http://www.youtube.com/user/BrueComputing/videos

this new quad core atom seems to be doing a lot better than people think it can.

World Of Warcraft

I find it can't - lack of Apps that are available in IOS/Android./Windows as it can't run Windows Apps. It is the better machine hardware wise but MS decided to cripple it. It may die fairly soon but it doesn't have to; its an MS decision in trying to push their own App store but they are so far behind the market leaders they should focus where they are strong in my view.

Agree the app store is the major weakness but out of the box Win RT can do so much more, supports significantly more printers, cameras, USB devices, home networking and streaming, integration with other Windows products on the network. These are where it comes into its own.

Just got out of the Gadget show and it was surprising how many independent companies (not the MS stand) were using a Surface as a tool to support them instead of an iPad.

Just sold a Dell Latitude 10 to brother in law as he needed something to take travelling with him quick so deciding whether to pay extra for one of these or wait for another Latitude 10 to come up in the outlet for about £220 all in like I paid for my last one.

Anyone bought a T100 and got any feedback? Would like a Dell Venue 11 but they are going to £500 all in I think with a similar dock!
#32
Like the look of it, but if only it had a better processor than an atom or was cheaper.

£349 for an atom based netbook ? (albeit with detachable touchscreen)
#33
The Atom processor is like an older Core i3 and perfect for this price / usage point. I was using my previous generation Atom in the Latitude 10 to power a full HD monitor as well as the tablet etc fine so can't wait to get one of these.

The only thing putting me off ordering today is that I'm sure this 32GB one will drop in price when the 64GB one is out but laptopsdirect have it for £344.97 and if you sign up to the Which trial over there you can get £15 off that priceas well as possibly 1.5% cashback via TCB or Quidco too but they do charge £4.97 for delivery. John Lewis also have it for £349.99 with their great 2 year warranty. Hmmm decisions decisions oO

Wait for the 64gb
1 Like #36
Including VAT, the 32GB model should only cost £262. Do not buy this as you would condoning rip off prices. This is a convertible netbook and it should be priced accordingly.
#37
Been after something like this since the concept of a convertible came out. Going to be great for work, no more lugging around a heavy dell. Shame about the glossy screen but all consumer ones have that.

The space could be an issue but it's easily resolved by using a fast microSD card and installing apps/games onto that. I've got a 64GB one in my s4.

The UK pricing is supposed to be £329 for the 32GB version according to the pre-release pricing. Maybe they're hoping to make a little more off early adopters.

The new Atom also supports hardware accelerated encryption. Worthwhile when this is going to be out most of the day since it's so portable.
#38
Amazon.fr will deliver this for GBP 294.90 - anyone got any advice on buying this from them?
#39
If you order it from france or germany it will have an azerty keyboard, not qwerty, so not really advisable. I wish we could order the 64gb from amazon.com but they say they can't ship it to uk, does any body know of a trick to workaround this?
#40
This price is ridiculous when you consider the fact that Dell are pricing their Venue 11 Pro at £415 before delivery for a 1920x1080 screen, 64GB eMMC and a faster CPU. The Asus T100 32GB model is also on sale in the US currently at $300; feels more like as if they're trying to force consumers in Europe to by the 32GB model that isn't selling, while trying to rip them off.
