I'm surprised you didnt buy all 4 and sell them for a nice profit. I'd have given you £350 for one...! (and I suspect others would have given you £400... :) )
Thought of that but again thought of other HUKDers also :)

Is the store only or nationwide
#3
I didn't check other stores, so someone else could possibly help here. You can also call your local store.

They however were not in clearance section. Only the tag said reduced for clearance. They got one brand new sealed unit from the stock.

Its definitely not TF101. The color is Champagne Gold. I also asked before buying and they said its just written gold.

Its also came with Android 4.0.3.

any ideas why this isn't even showing at any price on their website?

Awesome deal! Check if you can still apply for the free GPS dongle they were giving away. TF700 out soon and maybe they are going to just have the TF300 nd TF700 and discontinue this?

Loving my TF101 I got last week and you will love the TF201 as long as Wifi and GPS issues aren't a problem.
#15
just got the tf300 as i heard lots of probs with the prime for wifi and gps.

but for that price its a bargain

Tempted to upgrade my TF101. The only real complaint I have about it is that it's really picky about playing HD video and most downloaded stuff needs converting, and I think the processor in the Prime would handle it better.

A bit put off by the reported Wifi issues though.

It doesnt need any converting. Just use a decent media player.

And in fairness, you're probably referring to illegally obtained mkv files anyway.

Ring up customer services and give them the Item number from this guys receipt, they'll try and find one near to you.

For those reasons at first I wanted to get a TF300. But comparing all three(TF101, TF201, TF300) side by side I still decided to go for the TF201 because the screen is a bit brighter and sharper, but the TF101 and TF300 screens are not bad by any means.

I have checked the wifi and its not too bad plays HD videos from youtube smoothly, Router is in living room and I am in my bedroom next to it. The wifi signal shows one bar though. The newer builds probably improved the wifi issues. I decided to sacrifice built in GPS and use dongle/bluetooth GPS receiver.

Nice price but to many issues with wifi and gps, even with the gps fix(module)that Asus gave to existing owners, had one for a week, then sold it.The issues were something to do with the backing, that's why the new Asus TF300 pad is plastic backed and no issues with wifi or gps.
Quite a few business's withdrew this model due to the faults.

Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, does it have any bearing on what he's complaining about?

Of course it does. What sort of question is that?

Good lord.

Had one but returned it for a full refund after wifi problems, gps did not work at all.

@ £289 it is a lot cheaper than the £499 I had paid but still too much for a device that Asus pulled shortly after the official release because of issues

Hurry and claim your free GPS dongle !!!!! Offer runs out on the 31st August 2012

http://event.asus.com/ASUSPad/TF201GPS/

I will be posting the Trans cover I had bought for my prime prior to returning on Sale or trade if anyone is interested

Woah, hang on there a second.

Firstly, I've tried many media players. MX, Dice, BS, Arc. I've tried HW decoding, SW decoding and dropping frames. It's nothing to do with the software. Tegra 2 is just very picky about what HD it plays. Check the relevant forums. There's a good preset for Handbrake to convert things but it's just an extra step I'd like to eliminate. I've read that Tegra 3 has a much higher video bandwidth capability and will play most stuff without any need to convert.

Secondly, there are plenty of reasons a person might want to play an HD video that isn't illegal. Might be a film trailer, music video, films or TV released in DRM free video containers, or maybe even work. I'm an animator and most of what we produce is in HD. It's handy to be able to put things on my tablet, so I can review work ready for the next day or show it to somebody out of the office to get an opinion on something. It would be nice to be able to do that without having to run through yet another processing task just so I can get smooth playback. Nothing at all illegal about me doing that, thank you very much.

Yeah Tegra 2 does have problems with higher bitrate HD files. I have the xoom and some 720p files smooth as butter while others stuttering all over the place.

like you I cant be asked to convert files. Converting a blu-ray rip is long and tedious!

Excellent find. I have been at a few TF101's on eBay, trying to get one for about £200/220. But if I can get one of these for that price im all over it.
Will check my local store in Northern Ireland tomorrow. Fingers Crossed!!!

Nice price. Bet stock is scarce. Have some heat.

To be honest the prime has to be the worst purchase i have ever made terrible wifi, non existent gps, reboots and a browser that takes eternity. I hoped asus would sort these problems via updates but to be honest its just got worse. Maybe jellybean will sort it out but i doubt it, thats if it even gets it :-( check out the xda prime forums if in any doubt.

Possibly you will be able to run Windows 8 on this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5BCkBB3epI

and the post date of 1st April does not give the game away !!!

Windows 8 on a Prime :D:D:D:D:D : Don't make me laugh
LOL but it's possible!

The devices running Windows 8 are the Asus Tablet 600 which still habe an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor but they have 2GB of RAM, Not the 1GB RAM that the Prime has
