It doesnt need any converting. Just use a decent media player.
And in fairness, you're probably referring to illegally obtained mkv files anyway.

For those reasons at first I wanted to get a TF300. But comparing all three(TF101, TF201, TF300) side by side I still decided to go for the TF201 because the screen is a bit brighter and sharper, but the TF101 and TF300 screens are not bad by any means.
I have checked the wifi and its not too bad plays HD videos from youtube smoothly, Router is in living room and I am in my bedroom next to it. The wifi signal shows one bar though. The newer builds probably improved the wifi issues. I decided to sacrifice built in GPS and use dongle/bluetooth GPS receiver.
Quite a few business's withdrew this model due to the faults.
I stand corrected - Bargain mate well done!

Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, does it have any bearing on what he's complaining about?
You are correct. It is just outside Bullring opposite of HMV pavillions.

Of course it does. What sort of question is that?
Good lord.
@ £289 it is a lot cheaper than the £499 I had paid but still too much for a device that Asus pulled shortly after the official release because of issues

Woah, hang on there a second.
Firstly, I've tried many media players. MX, Dice, BS, Arc. I've tried HW decoding, SW decoding and dropping frames. It's nothing to do with the software. Tegra 2 is just very picky about what HD it plays. Check the relevant forums. There's a good preset for Handbrake to convert things but it's just an extra step I'd like to eliminate. I've read that Tegra 3 has a much higher video bandwidth capability and will play most stuff without any need to convert.
Secondly, there are plenty of reasons a person might want to play an HD video that isn't illegal. Might be a film trailer, music video, films or TV released in DRM free video containers, or maybe even work. I'm an animator and most of what we produce is in HD. It's handy to be able to put things on my tablet, so I can review work ready for the next day or show it to somebody out of the office to get an opinion on something. It would be nice to be able to do that without having to run through yet another processing task just so I can get smooth playback. Nothing at all illegal about me doing that, thank you very much.

Yeah Tegra 2 does have problems with higher bitrate HD files. I have the xoom and some 720p files smooth as butter while others stuttering all over the place.
like you I cant be asked to convert files. Converting a blu-ray rip is long and tedious!
Will check my local store in Northern Ireland tomorrow. Fingers Crossed!!!

Windows 8 on a Prime :D :D :D :D :D : Don't make me laugh
LOL but it's possible!
The devices running Windows 8 are the Asus Tablet 600 which still habe an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor but they have 2GB of RAM, Not the 1GB RAM that the Prime has
