stupid question but i think im in the right place..... to receive answers..... What is the i3, i5 and the i7 cores? obviously this is better than the dual core and quad core but how much better. I ask because this has a 2gb ram which i would have thought isnt really sufficient.... i obviously will stand corrcted but just wanted to know.

Good find and a cracking first deal, this is by no means a complaint, but it might be worth stating where to get the extra 2GB for £17.99 from as not everybody will know where to get it, or what type to get.

look up intel processors on wikipedia, you get nice charts explaining how many cores\cache\fsb each chip runs at etc.

Core 2 Duo - always 2 cores
Intel Duel core - 2 cores, but based on old pentium 4 tech - slow.
core i3, these are dual core and share a similar architechture with core i5\corei7 but are the budget end of the performance market -> then core i5 -> core i7 (which is currently the flagship line of fast processors).

Core 2 Quads are the generation before core i7, so until a couple of years ago they would be the equivalent of a core i7. I'm quite sure all core i7 processors have 4 cores except for the extreme edition ones that now have 6 cores, but cost 600-800 squids,

Anyways, have a look at wikipedia mate

Even hotter!

But I do like Amazon, they let you send it back within 30 days and their customer service is pretty good. I would be tempted to go for this one purely for those reasons.
