NB. Not for gamers so don't expect anything in that department.

Not very good? It may not be the latest or greatest, but it's powerful enough to play anything you throw at it - my laptop only has a 230M and it does fine.

Reliable my ***, I bought one at Christmas, the Oberon games cannot be removed without cocking up the registry & mine has now been back for repair twice. The worst most unreliable laptop I have ever owned by far.
If you buy this, pray it does not go wrong.
only 12 now!

You didn't hear me? NOT VERY GOOD :)
I stand by my comment, it's not very good. I'd like it to play BF3 on medium to high settings please, that's what I'm throwing at it, oh it can't do it, you lied to me :P It's not much better than HD 3000 integrated graphics.

Why didn't you just re-install windows, software problems do not constitute unreliability, personally I have had great experience with Asus reliability, but each to his own I guess

Once I found out it was impossible to remove the Oberon games (after several windows reinstall & removing the games each time, & asus customer service saying they never heard of the problem, in spite of it being ALL OVER THE INTERNET) I installed my own retail copy of windows 7 & no longer had the games on & no longer had any more issues until the screen had a black line creep up on it, this was sent back & 'repaired' but was sent back to me with a different fault on the screen (couldn't even check there own repair work). It is now back at asus for the second repair & I am posting this on my trusty 3 year old, no problems at all, Dell laptop.
I bought the asus from Comet & they are the worst company I have ever delt with. Never again will I buy from comet, never again will I buy asus.

I remember a customer coming in to a computer shop I used to work at a few years ago and he told me that he phoned up Asus in Germany to try and get some replacement parts to fix his motherboard where it attaches the heatsink, and the customer service agent told him "don't waste my time" and put the phone down! He probably was wasting their time but it's not usually very good customer service to tell the customer that. I don't know if Asus still have a general disdain for their customers. It seems they make the products then get annoyed when customers ask questions about them or want any service.

I haven't played BF3 (and if I did, it would be on my desktop) so I have no basis for comparison, but it looks okay to me -

Seems to run smoothly enough - I mean seriously, if you'd like to play BF3 on high settings, you shouldn't be looking at a laptop at all.

No, it seems like you are unable to recognise the difference between a multi-national company and a person....
(Plus people invariably embellish events like this anyway!).

I had an Asus laptop. Good quality, but it did not appreciate the wine I spilled over it. I rang Asus. Got the laptop back in 2 weeks time. Great service, they checked up and kept me informed.
There telephony support centre is in the Netherlands - and I found them knowledgeable and helpful.
