Asus X54C 15.6 inch laptop 8GB RAM £349.99 @ Amazon
I was looking around for a decent laptop with plenty of RAM and found this ASUS with 8GB for 349.99. Not really for gaming, mostly work stuff so I'm hoping it can manage some VMs, Comes with W7 Home Premium x64, only 1/2 TB HDD though. Still it seems like a good deal to me although I'm really interested if anyone knows anything better?

Then think of tacking in another 4Gb of RAM like this:

Better CPU with turbo boost, same RAM, larger HDD, works out a few pounds more expensive in the long run (btw I'm guessing at the Crucial RAM fitting, I haven't checked it, but it shouldn't be hard to look up)

I thought this was a really great deal so thanks very much for the links :) I've always thought of ACER products as being poor quality. Not sure how many mem slots it has, can you actually upgrade this to 8GB? Is it in pairs?
I'm not on my own wireless right now, so I don't have a lot of options to search for the model/spec. I was making an educated guess I'm afraid.
As to ACER... The older models I'd agree, but I'm typing this on a 1 year old ACER AMD single core (it's pants speed) and the screen, chasis, keyboard, touchpad... they're all spot on. If I hadn't already gone for a deal for an i5 i'd be tempted by that ACER i3. May be worth posting on that thread and seeing if anyone has the answers to your questions. Best of luck!
