Welcome to HUKD lisbong, unfortunately I don't think this is such a good deal. It may be cheaper than elsewhere, but I think that's because it's an old model and as such is probably not available at many other places. Most people want windows7 now and are put off by Vista laptops as you have to pay to upgrade. Also the spec is nothing special for the money. Admittedly Asus are a good brand and worth paying a bit of a premium for, but even then there are better deals available.

I don't want to go on about my new laptop (as I did in the Dell Studio thread last night) but I just got an Asus laptop from Argos of all places for £400 with a T4300 (even though the website says T4200) 4GB Ram, 250GB HDD Windows7 and GMA4500M graphics. It's not the best value obviously as it was from Argos (Had to a new laptop, had to get interest free!) but with the £10 voucher offer it costs £390 and the extras are certainly worth the extra £45 in my opinion.
Hi, Thanks for the reply.

I thought it was a good deal, primarily due to Asus being a premium brand as you say. I know there are a few acers etc on ebuyer for example that have a slightly better spec for similar money but I thought the reliability and build quailty of Asus laptops balanced against that.

I take your point about windows 7. I hadn't considered that as I have a copy I can use to upgrade from Vista so I didn't really pay attention to the OS when looking for a deal. If you take the OS out of it then it seems like only the lower ram in this model is the main difference from the £400 spec.

I guess it depends on your needs but perhaps this would appeal to someone who doesn't need top spec but wants a pretty decent spec but with good build quality/reliability?
