Pretty good deal for £299.

Dual Core
2GB RAM
250GB HDD
Wireless N

and even though it's not the prettiest laptop in the world, it's made by a very reliable retailer
suspended#2
Nothing special

Pretty good deal for the price  hot.

[Edit: This does get good reviews; but there seem to be several models as the reviews I read showed a HDMI out port and GMA 4500MHD grahpics; this model shows GMA 4500M (which don't handle 1080p entirely well - so possibly there's no HDMI out either]

"Nothing Special" but at a good nothing special price. If you have an old PC to trade in you might be better off going for the HP G52-105SA deal http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/694707/hp-g62-105sa-laptop-i3-330m-3-gb-32

Agreed, nothing special, but the price makes it worth looking at. Try and find a basic dual core laptop for £300?
#5
looks decent for those on a tight budget and asus are usually well built:)
#6
Pretty good for a basic machine, will suit the needs of many of those who only do web browsing and instant messaging and such.
#7
Are Argos still doing the £10 voucher offer if you spend £100 ?
#8
Indeed, nothing special, but a hot price!
#9
Great price \. Thanks a lot for that mate.
#10
How do people see this versus the Asus UL30 CPW deal, not too worried about battery life but is the little extra for the Asus UL30 worth it over this.
#11
I purchased this for web browsing etc.... Fine computer but....... The volume on the speakers is awfull - youtube is hard to hear, Spotify is just listenable..... I've checked and turned everything up 100%
#12
What is there not to like? Windows7 alone is worth £80. Above average manufacturer, decent spec and supplied by a reasonable retailer. All this for less than 300 beer tokens! As long as your computing requirements are't too demanding on the graphics front, the offer seems like very good value to me. Heat added.
#13
Nice price
#14
Got a slightly different spec one of these before Christmas for £399 (T4300 cpu and 4GB ram) but otherwise identical spec. No complaints at all from me. Speakers are a bit quiet as somebody has mentioned, and the keyboard is a slightly spongy, but far from the worst I've used.

The best thing about it compared to our old Compaq is that it doesn't get at all hot in use, even when it's been used all day, which is great if you do end up with it on your lap.
#15
Looks good to me for a £300 machine:thumbsup:
#16
I agree looks good
#17
Absolute bargain I have been looking for something jus for browsing and word processing and this fits the bill perfectly. Heat & rep added

Interesting post, rubbishing a deal and then failing give an alternative:roll:

Care to divulge where I can get a better spec laptop for £300

Well I popped into Argos to take a look at this laptop and it's not bad looking.

Keys are a little flat but have a lower groove round them so you can find them.

Mouse pad felt fine with a defined edge - unlike the new HP which is somewhere along the bottom!

It appeared thinner and lighter than the acer aspire but has the same key lay out.

The mouse pad was also set to the centre of the letter keys, not the centre of the base.

I was impressed with it's looks and feel. Still undecided if I should pay a little more and get the Asus from CPW.

If anyone is looking for a light user laptop and wants summit bigger than a netbook this is a cracker!!!!

i think you may be confusing yourself there a bit! yes celeron is a name which has been used for many years, just like ipod, but this celeron is not old (well start of 2009).

For £300 you can't beat the specs, unless you get a refurb. Yeah nothing special but how many people actually need the kit they have. Big screen, DVD Drive and Dual Core Celeron. Will do internet and office stuff which is what most people use them for anyway.
H&R added.

Totally agree that's why I purchased one and have to say very pleased.

Still around :)

Argos has said this Asus has only a DVD/CD reader and not writer, can anyone confirm this either way?

I've got a slightly higher spec model of this, which has a writer, I'd be very surprised if it doesn't have a writer as they're not exactly expensive components - in fact I don't even know if anybody makes read only optical drives anymore.

I'm sure somebody with this exact model can confirm, but if it doesn't have one I'll buy a hat and eat it (I don't own one of my own, and Mrs Mike won't be too thrilled if I eat one of hers - especially with a wedding coming up!)
#27
Yes indeed it does have the DVD/CD burner as I had to burn 4 dvd's for the system recovery discs:thumbsup:
#28
Yes - it has as has been said now.

Leaflets in the shop had it selling for £330 - so ordered it online to pick up.

Argos say £300 is a pricing error, but honoured the price - so it might be worth ordering to pick up before you buy.

Its brown - not black - buts seems excellent for the money.

Why Expire?? Still showing on website and iphone app at £299???
#31
Still available
#32
my folks just got one of these - looks good and it performs nicely, H+R from me :-D
#33
My wife just got one. Nice and fast, keyboard takes a bit of getting used to and the trackpad isn't as good as on my Dell Vostro, but can't beat the price! Oh, if you make the (4) backup DVDs, be prepared for it to take about an hour and a half!
#34
hi guys
can any one tell me if this will be able to handle to HD video well enough. also does anyone lnow much about the graphics card on this. thanks
#35
Not expired, still available
#36
Unexpired.
#37
why do people keep expiring? There's 3 in stock near me...
#38
Well I picked 1 up last week, got 10% discount with electricity company so cost £270 and im really pleased with it.

Sound quality is loud and clear, the track pad is different to other laptops I've had, but very easy to do percise movements. keys are easy to use and have a good amount of travel. I'm not a seriously fast typer but I'm not bad & I find the keys everytime.

I've not played any games or video's so can't commment on the speed or picture quality but it does everything I need so I'm very chuffed :)

Yes, my sister got one on Wednesday and she is well pleased with it, although she says that the sound is rather quiet.
