I own the 8" version of this and i'm going to give this a cold vote.

Reason being: The price has dropped for a reason, they are crap.

The screen is amazing, and speakers are good, however the software is terrible, camera is useless, the overall experience is sluggish. Would not recommend, unless you ONLY need good video and nothing else, in which case it's great.

Have you upgraded to Android 7.1?

This joke died many years ago. There is nothing to worry about for budget devices, but if you want to believe that then more fool you.

It's not just me who said this folks... even android police says it. MediaTek don't open source their software which is against the android rules (im talking drivers etc that make the device work) also if you buy MTK processors you will be stuck on whatever android version they are on at the time unless you enjoy rooting and hacking the device to use generic images...

make your own mind up folks, just google it.... no more armchair expert stuff...

Yes, all of which is actually acceptable for budget devices. Power users and people who want to spend more can buy Qualcomm SoC powered devices - nothing to do with 'armchair expert stuff'...

Also Android Police (even if they do have police in their name) are not the absolute authority on everything. I would also hazard a guess that the people on AP are the power user sort who wouldn't accept MediaTek SoCs but for many people looking for decent value phones and tablets it's fine.
