:{ Really?

1GB RAM + 600p Screen = Rubbish tablet.

This is clearly curry's/pc world dumping stock on unsuspecting/technology deaf customers. Don't fall for their tricks.

Yeah then go for it. I honestly don't care at that point. I've voiced my opinion. I've said it's carp. That's all I can do. I've done my bit.
If people still want to buy it after that then good luck to them. For anyone else do the right thing and avoid.

In before:
'It's good enough for the grandparents'
'Fine for the kids'
'Find me something better then'
'Can I borrow your DeLorean?'

I had to. This isn't a 'nice find'. This is the retailer flogging trash.
It's a poor spec tablet that will be frustrating to use and provide a substandard experience.

You didn't 'have to' keep doing anything. The x3-C3200 is what Asus have in their Z380C and Z300C larger tablets, the low-res screen is actually manageable on a 7" tablet as it offers similar PPI to the 8 and 10" models. Yet you haven't provided an obviously better alternative and as a Christmas present are your kids/parents/grandparents really going to be impressed with an Argos Outlet used refurb or a cheap no-name Chinese tablet vs a branded boxed brand new one? Even if the specs don't meet what you deem everyone needs or must have.

Ordered the 2gb lenovo tab3 8 inch from the world of argoose last night with the 10% eBay discount for my wee one.....it's more expensive...but seeing how an under powered tablet (wikipad) can effect a child's fun time, I thought it better to invest a bit more on something more relevant. The extra screen real estate also makes a big difference as does the 2gb ram.....go for whatever takes your fancy, and is suitable for the lucky person receiving it this Christmas :D

1024 x 600 may become a problem if web pages don't scale down to that resolution. I've had issues where I can't see the close buttons on adverts or subscription pop-ups so I can't use the site - very annoying.

But if you don't want to use the web and only want to use apps, then this will be fine, providing you don't want to play high-end games, or use multiple apps at the same time (my Moto G2 really struggles with only 1GB RAM).

And yes, unfortunately to the uninformed, brand name is more attractive than functionality.

Looks like a far better tablet, for the sake of a couple of quid.

Maybe I should have just said if specs aren't important to you then this is a great buy. Enjoy it and everything that comes with it. The good and the bad.

This is an awful tablet. So unbelievably slow. I had it one for 2 weeks and sold it on.
Cold.

Another pointless 1GB 7" tablet. These things are not worth it, no matter how cheap they may appear to be.

That is fair enough. But also, that for a fixed budget and for a gift, being new and branded is probably more important. The low res might be an issue but we still see Android phones with 800x480 panels and they're 'ok'.

Beware ASUS products. They have a regional warranty and a very inflexible attitude to customer care.

my son's Samsung tab has given up the ghost, anyone any suggestions as what is best to replace it with? I wasn't too impressed with it because it was only 8gb and wouldn't allow apps to be downloaded onto the memory card...so ideally something that will or something with a higher memory

If you're a prime member then how about the Fire tablets. There's a variety to choose from. Good customer service. Seem reliable.
It he's really young then they have kids version s too.

Only 1gb ram. Will definitely give memory problems. Just buy Asus brand name sticker if you love Asus so much.

What is the best 8" Android tablet that can be had for about £150?
#26
Not sure why this is so hot? Do people just click 'hot' or 'cold' depending on the heat when they see the deal?

I've got an Asus 7" tablet from a couple of years ago. Although it did everything I needed to at re time (for about the same price) I have no had a single Android update (including security) since I've owned it.

This makes me wonder if Asus care about their tablets once they're out in the market

Very poor deal. Only a tiny 7 inch screen for £69 and it doesn't even have HDMI out or even a full sized USB port. It really should have HDMI output at this price level. It's very overpriced. I wouldn't want to pay more than £39 for a 7 incher without HDMI.

You'd be better of getting the 10.1 inch Connect tablet from Ebuyer for £45 with free next day delivery. It's got HDMI output, full sized USB 3 port, a keyboard docking connector, micro USB, dedicated charging port.. It's got every type of connector you could ever want in a tablet. And twice the storage at 32gb aswell.

Why should it? Most people don't want to plug their tablet into the TV, they will Miracast it wirelessly - I can't remember the last time I plugged a tablet into a TV and what Android tablet has a full-size USB port? Your comparison is not valid unless someone is prepared to forego an Android tablet for a Windows one, which is a completely different OS and experience. For comparison, a Samsung Tab S or Sony Z3 Compact Tablet are around £200 and have micro-USB ports only and HDMI by MHL.

Price has been reduced from £69 to £59.99. I have updated the title.
