  Funny how the whole point of the original Atari VCS was that you could change games by installing a different cartridge - still for less than twenty quid it's probably worth showing the PS/3 generation just how unspeakably dreadful games were in the late 70s!

  Shame these Atari retro things never contain the 2 Pitfall Games, and The Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark games as I'd love to play them again.

  Don't suppose anyone remembers a game where wee flames would appear and you had to try and put them out? I used to think it was called fire king but can't find anything to back that up. I'm sure the screen was black and red.

  I had a Atari 2600 back in 1980. Games where reliable as where the development imagination of the people who conceived them. Things constantly evolve. . But if we had not had these greats..we would not have had todays games. Its unwise and far too easy to forget the pioneers.

  Riddle of the Sphinx (remember the silver box?) and Defender would have clinched it for me. It just also hit me that these carts where about £45 each back then. Dunno how on earth we afforded them!!
