they could have easily put volume 1 & 2 on the same disc! bit of a rip that they are charging separately for vol 1 and 2 for 30-40 year old games!

100% agree, even if they charged £30 it would be better than expecting £40 and having to buy 'two' titles.

Comfortably, plus literally every 8 bit and 16 bit game ever released, with the possible exception of the CD based games. Storage has increased exponentially since the 8 and 16 bit days and couldn't be much less of a problem. The real problem of course are those ugly copyright/rights issues that have to always spoil the fun, that and the fact that 'Atari' want to make as much on these as possible.

To be fair the two collections combined make a decent little bundle of retro goodness just utterly ludicrous that they were split into two games in the first place!

As someone suggested, £30 for both volumes is far more reasonable than £20 each - absolutely mental pricing strategy there, for what is essentially a novelty product - nobody is buying these for anything more than nostalgia (maybe trophies). Even ignoring the pricing, from a user experience point of view, having to change the disc in the middle of a retro gaming session is a nuisance in this day and age (and this is coming from a former Amiga owner, multiple disc swaps between levels...)

it is on Atari and many more systems, but they were the first to publish it (or did it) for arcades. It was Taito in Japan and Midway in America in 1978.

Because with a disc you can recoup some of the value by trading in or selling it after you're done? I prefer digital personally as I hate disc swapping but financially it'll normally work out better buying a hard copy.

I'd suggest getting a copy of Atari Anthology for the Xbox, that's 360 compatible.

1mb? The Atari 2600 could only allow cartridges up to 2kb

Heat added FD, some great Arcade classics in there and nice to see the physical versions.
Though, I'd agree with others that breaking these into two instalments seems a little \:(/ compared to the previous Atari compilations. X)

If you really want a retro experience just spend the cash on a Raspberry Pi. I bought a 64gb card, loaded the motion blue attract mode image and packs and now I've got something massively more impressive than this for just over £40.

You'll also actually only play the Atari games for about 2 minutes each before running out of patience. I'm serious. I got a 2600 for xmas one year in the early 80s and it was great. These days no so great. Just load MAME and play the arcade originals rather than the dire conversions we used to get. At least the Spectrum had some distinctly original stuff, Atari is mostly shovelware.

Of this, I bet 400mb is the 1080p logo animations of the developer and publisher when you start the games up!

Remastered in stunning HD... Atari 2600 games in 'HD'?

Remastered in stunning HD... Atari 2600 games in 'HD'?

Would love to relive some of these but not over multiple discs etc. Why they couldn't just release a back catalogue collection on one disc with all artworks, instructions, a wiki of all things Atari - throw in some tv adverts for the games or interviews done at the time with developers etc. Make it a comprehensive archive of the Atari, and then you could charge a premium!
