Ok, I'm a few years behind on PC gaming, but a card of over 1gig does not sound like mid-range to me. How high do they go these days? Not much more I would imagine.

you only need the higher memory

you only need the higher memory to play at higher resolutions (1920 X 1080 or above as far as i understand it). the memory doesn't really affect the fps (frames per second) that much.

seems to be a good price to me also supports Crossfire, these are not bad mid range cards

It definately is a mid range card, you could not call it more.

crossfire performance is comparable to a 5850 in some games and even out performs a 5870 in others if you look at the review.

the price of these probably will drop but not by that much i think, as they do support directx11 which is why the 4000 series were so cheap.

This card is definitely a mainstream GPU and the price reflects that, anything between 80-160 could be classed as mainstream. Seems like a good deal, but I am still hungry for a more powerful GPU but for a good price.

By that logic, "anything between 0 and 700 is classed as....."

Just no, the 5770 and the 5850 were the mid range cards that people tend to go for from the AMD camp.

You can't define "mainstream", you either need a gaming gpu or something else. In fact randomly asking someone off the street and asking them about a mainstream graphics card would probably result in the answer being Microsoft or Sony.

Just remember that the 5750 is sliding into budget graphics card territory and don't rely on Crossfire or SLI to bail cards like these out as you can get ranging differences in performance across games and drivers.

Heat added, Only fractionally better than my Gainward 4850 GS I think. Certainly at lower resolutions (below 1080i).

5750 has 720 shaders/stream processors, 700 MHz core, 1TB GDDR5 1150MHz, 256 mem bandwidth + smaller proc + DX11

4850 GS has 800 shaders, 625 clocked to 700MHz core, 512MB GDDR3 1000 clocked to 1100MHz, 256 mem bandwidth

Likely to run cooler too owing to reduction in proc size (so then could clock futher) so good deal I reckon, If I didn't have my card, I'd get it. Just for me, only fractionally worth the upgrade.
