Simple answer: no, you can't. You need a separate HD-DVD player, such as an XBox 360 add-on.

dont mind slow films that set the scene, build up characters, has nice scenery, etc but this is just film is just plain arty farty drivel

very...yawn...sleep...yawn...inducing.....yawn...zzzzzzzz!

It won the most pointless and boring film of the year category at the Oscars

what is up with the film studios.....cant think of many real decent films that came out last year

EXCELLENT
I am legend
american gangster
bourne supremacy

GOOD
shooter
300 - good demo disk for showing up the flaws of LCDs compared to decent plasmas
Die Hard 4 - silly but film as are 2 and 3 but enjoyable if you switch off your brain...first one is easily the best tho
Disturbia - simple plot but surprisingly enjoyable

OK
death sentence - first half good, 2nd half laughable
Transformers - end fight scenes were a mess

RUBBISH
1408
Atonment
aliens v predator - laughably bad
Paradise Lost
Next
saw 4
the list is almost endless

If they wanted to showcase their HD setup... they wouldn't have a HD-DVD player in the first place! ;)

just rent it from blockbuster.

why buy a film for a really, really dead format?

it'll probably be £4 next week, then £3 in two months.

one mans **** another mans gold...!!
voted hot......just because a format is so called dead means diddly....i'm personally fed up of everybody and his dog dissing HDDVD compared to blu-ray ...at £4.99 and played through xbox360 hd player these are tremendous value for money .....for the quality of picture.....just look at the price of some ordinary dvd titles ? ....to each his own thats my motto........no doubt the blu-ray fanboy brigade will shoot it down but who cares... hot hot hot ..........

You could look for anything and Atonement would fall down flat against it.

It's all style....as in pretty scenery and poses....and absolutely zero substance. Dialogue is so shallow that if it was water you wouldn't get the soles of your feet wet!
To paraphrase the legendary Frank Sinatra.... " I could eat alphabet soup and s**t better dialogue "

You have got to be kidding me, a fantastic & enthrawling film - a bargin at £15 when I bought it.
#20
because renting it costs practically the same price as does buying it on normal DVD so why not pay the same price to have it in HD quality & sound if you have a HD player for 3 years before it gets to £4 on stink-ray format when the players are going for £50 as opposed to £180 now. Hd Dead HD Dead, just let the HD users buy the bargins and get 2 years use out of it whilst all the stink-ray users pay £15 for the same thing!1 Idiots!!

Well using that Logic why also bother buying any Blu Ray release now (just rent it) as it'll probably be half price next month, etc etc etc....

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fantastic and entralling:roll::whistling:

I can only surmise you're trying to justify wasting £15 on it............ either that or you probably go out and watch the traffic lights changing colour as a form of exciting entertainment......even that would beat ADRONEMENT on the "enthralling" scale....:whistling:;-)
It's boring, predictable, stilted dialogue and you can tell how it ends before it starts!

The big clue was the only selling point it had in its adverts was Keira ( the stick ) Knightley coming out of the pond with wet clothes on......... and that wasn't too pretty a sight, unless you like malnourished sticks....Mind you.....it was at least telepathic!! You get clearly told the date is June 1st on Dunkirk beach.... and McAvoy is told of the tragic sinking of the Lancastria with the loss of 3000 souls. Tragic indeed...not least since the Lancastria was sunk on June 17th.... 2 1/2 weeks later.... That just about sums up the lack of attention in this drivel..................... FFS they can't even get Dunkirk right which is what the climax of the movie is about!!!

The films plot is a little sick and i felt it was overrated - the film only got good near the end like 30mins

standard DVD format is a lot more alive than HD-DVD lol. That says it all.

What's the picture quality like in this transfer to hd-dvd?

I don't know how you can call the film predicable, the whole film was written around the twist at the end which, the film gave absolutely no clue or hint about whatsoever until it happened.

Some people enjoy a period drama, a slow-moving storyline that builds up the characters with lots of dialect and scenes and this film does all of that fabulously well with a complete unexpected twist at the end. It also has arguably Britain's most successful and attractive actresses of the last 10 years in the lead role. Not everyone loves blood & guts, special effects and no storyline and, you are entitled to your opinion but to say the film was predictable just isn't true unless you read every review, the book or a forum before watching it. or that Keira Knightley is unattractive because she is a 'stick' is your opinion of her and not one that most people would share hence her £2m+ salary per film and her being the face of Channel.

It's a lot easier to be critical then give praise, this film is an absolute bargain for £5 on HD no ifs, no buts - bargain!
