As reported in the Press Au Naturale have run into financial problems.

It was announced to us yesterday that as from this Sunday 4th May the stores are going into a 4 week Close Down programme:

Outlined in a memo last night:

Weeks 1 and 2, stock will be reduced by 50%
Weeks 3 and 4 remaining stock will be reduced by 75%

Shops will close once stock has gone.

31 Shops have been purchased by B&M, these shops will be selling off Au Naturale stock as outlined above but will continue to trade with new stock.

See http://www.aunaturale.co.uk for your local store and check with individual store for details or closing date.

Ps: Enjoy your bargains but please be nice to the staff cos they are all losing there jobs!!

#10
Closing posters will be going up tomorrow
#11
I will sooo miss this shop
#12
No mention of it on their website- still displaying Ad "come work for us"- thinks that would be short lived employment! Shame as they do (did) nice stuff.
#14
thanks for the heads up firthandy:thumbsup:
#15
cant find a store anywhere near bristol :(
#16
oh i love this shop too and have just bought two sofa chairs recently. :( will go in for a bargain sunday though.
#17
I also like the shop but boy does it stink when you walk in...
#18
what a shame
we have a shop by where i work (small heath, birmingham) and it only opened about 4 months ago

told all the girls in the office, there will be a stampede sunday lol
#19
Thanks for that, will take my daughter on Sunday as she adores that shop for card making things - she'll have to find some where else now!!!
#20
Weird shop - 90% tat, but some other really cool stuff like funky boxes and fifties retro trays. A shame though, lots of shops struggling at the moment it seems.
[mod]#21
Thanks for the tip, shame as i love au naturale - however - great, coz it means i can grab a few bargains!
#22
Just to let you know that the markdowns in store are up to 50% off, and not everything is in the close down sale from Sunday, so do ensure you check the prices.
#23
Strange how everyone loves this shop and yet it is closing LOL. Only the shops we hate seem to stick around
#24
I have been in this place often with my bit on the side.

All the stuff looked pretty cheap and useless - but it smelled lovely.

It looks like they have stopped paying their hosting bills first!
#25
Never heard of this store. We don't get them down south, that's for sure. But then, if we did, we still wouldn't go in them. I've looked on their website and the stuff is cheap, nasty tat. From China.
#26
thanks for letting me know about the closing down sale... it's a shame to see such a popular shop go though!
#27
My friend works there and they weren't even told they were closing down! They only found out because of a report in the Times lol!!

I'll be heading there tomorrow to see if I can deck out my student flat. Cheap tat is what us students love!
#28
think their website has closed down as well.
#29
I went this morning and there were no closing down or sale signs but when you go in everything that is reduce has an orange sticker on them..

There was a fair bit reduced UP TO 50%.

I was after pictures and unfortunately there wasn't any of the newer styles reduced..this also went for some other things as they said they were new in so not reduced.

Check your receipt on the way out as i was overcharged on two things :(
#30
Drove almost 50miles today to most local au naturale shop and it was ALREADY CLOSED DOWN !!! Felt like getting out of car and taking a mad fit LOL I also really loved this shop. Great for candles and holders and other such tat which i shall have to find another place to buy from now
#31

#32

#33

You and your fellow southerners are clearly, clearly above the rest of us.
Thank you good sir, for your highly useful and riveting post.

.... ...

Thanks OP. Will check out my local store. Shame it's closing down, they sell some funky stuff.

Went into my local branch in Bury after some bargains. Staff didn't know about the closure, no signs up, some stuuf reduced UP TO 50%. Staff didn't even know what was or wasn't being sold off. Said if there was anything I wanted, to ask and they would scan it. Only went in on the offchance of a huge bargain. Couldn't be bothered. Awareness and reductions seem to vary from store to store.
#36
I got some good bargains in the Aberdeen store.
Citronella candles for the garden reduced from £3 to 99p.
Also they had split up sets of baskets, so managed to get a couple of big ones for £2 each, (rather than spend £15 on a set & end up not using the small ones).
#37
Oh no, i adore this shop, what a shame.

Hi,

These sort of closing down sales are simply a sales gimmick. My local Au Naturale recently went through a
complete refit. One would have to ask why spend refurbishing the store only to close it down?
Its a gimmick to increase sales. People rush in thinking they are getting a bargain.
Hold on to your £ssss!

Just to reply to last posting regarding Closing Down sale been a ploy to rake in the money????
A redundancy pack landing at your feet and notice been given to you of 4 to 8 weeks left in your current employment does not sound like a money grabbing ploy to me!!!!!!!!
My husband is one of the few that is lucky enough to have 8 weeks left to close down his shop whilst trying desperately to find a new job and support a young family!!!!!!!!!!
Whilst everybody out there is quick to grab a bargain please bear in mind that there are over 100 managers plus staff that are losing there jobs whilst trying to keep "the customer happy"
