Not for everyone i know and there are much cheaper cars out there but if you are in the market for one of these and don't want to wait then this is the place.

They are brand new and unregistered.

I got my car from them so can confirm they are a legit company. They basically just put you in touch with the supplying dealer and are just a broker. All monies and contact after the initial 'order' is with the dealer.

Can't be such a 'hot' product after all then if they're into discounts already! Well reviewed car and nice to get a few quid off but SO expensive for what it is.

Think anyone spending £25K plus on an A1 should wait for the 'S'1 or Polo R.

What waiting list? My local Audi has about 10 new ones on their lot, 1000 off, surely more if you haggle.
Better to get Fiat 500.

I don't have much style about me so obviously I like the look of this car.
#24
Meant to be a MINI competitor - clearly failing already. If these 'fashion' cars don't take off straight away they never will. Reviews rate it highly but it's such a dull looking car against all the funky super-minis. Too small for the Audi thugs to use for intimidation and not cute enough for the girlie market.
#25
anyone wanting an semi automatic this has 7 speed dsg option ! The mini has 6 speed cvt auto which what car says is rubbish !!

I'm a fan of Audis , but must say that I'm not liking the look of the A1.

I wonder where all the 'I would rather have the A1' trolls have gone from the Fabia VRS thread a couple of months ago....? :p

1: Failing already? How?
2: Hasn't taken off? They are selling them as fast as they can make them.
3: Dull looking? Funky super-minis? Looks brilliant compared to every other 'premium' super-mini.
4: Not girly enough? My girlfriend wants one.
5: Mini? Had it's day long ago and ten a penny.

Your view and maybe correct but if big discounts are available already then the market says either demand is too low or supply too high. Reviews rate it as very refined and 'grown up' but not very exciting to drive. Surely no one can believe it's a looker against its direct competitors? In a sector where image is everything its only the badge which gives this one a chance.

No, I'm not a fan of the MINI either but you can't deny it's a commercial success.

This is the first time since launch any of the online brokers have had more than £100-£300 off list price of this car, so this deal (from a single dealership with stock) is hardly widespread discounting. Quite possibly this dealership has ordered a few too many and wants to hit it's monthly/quarterly target without having £'s worth of brand new stock sat on the forecourt.

Just try and get a discount at your local Audi dealer on an A1, it's near impossible and the wait time for a SE model is November-December for orders made now. I don't mean to harp on about the Mini thing, but you can almost walk into a heavy discount on them at most dealerships.

So what other competitors does it have in the premium super-mini class? Alfa Mito, good car but just as expensive if you want a decent spec and won't hold it's price like an A1. Polo Gti/Ibiza Cupra/Fabia VRS all good choices, with their own sector of loyal buyers. Fiat/Abarth 500, starting to look dated and again future values dubious. I'm struggling to think of which cars you think it pales in comparison to? Not being argumentative just interested (_;)

The mini is a big star but Audi has a very good image at the moment and this is going to be very popular it looks cute and very economical indeed !

There will be more and more deals on the new audi A1 cos the initial excitement has faded and its just another car that will need to be discounted so they can be shifted.
#33
I'm not keen on the car but voting hot purely on the basis that you won't get a discount like this at a dealer.

Better include the Citroen (wash my mouth out) DS3 in that list? None of them appeals to me but at least they aren't as deadly dull to look at (and drive, apparently) as an A1. Maybe it'll find its place in the relatively wealthy retired and downsizing market, but there again they probably value the practicality of the Jazz too much. The A1 is a good car by all accounts, but that's not enough to win fans who will put up with a lot to be seen in something more fashionable.

The Citroen DS3 may be nice to look at but its buid quality is shocking and reliable it wont be hence used value will be terrible our Citroen dealer in Loughborough is full off them im surprised they have kept going who in there right mind buys a brand new citroen !! lol

Last year's What Car Car of the Year was the Peugeot 3008. So I wouldn't rely on that title to back my argument if I were you!

I've seen one A1. It was specced up with futuristic wheels and so on. It looked interesting but ultimately ugly. But I assume there are people who want a quality product in a small package and I guess the A1 fits that criteria.

I'll not vote either way because although discounted prices are nice, if the car is overpriced in the first place a small discount doesn't go far enough to make it a hot deal.

Are you kidding? Firstly the ds3 is too new to think about reliability, and secondly, its build quality is widely reported as excellent, not shocking. Has the motoring press got it wrong?

ive yet to read any motoring mag that says DS3 has very good build quality !!?

Given a choice between an A1 and a DS3 at the same price I'd have to go for an A1. If nothing else, Audi's "perceived quality" i.e. the stuff the owner sees and touches is always top notch. That doesn't mean it's necessarily built better than a similarly priced car from another manufacturer. Don't forget that Audi has to make a profit from selling these cars and they will have had to have cut corners somewhere to get the price down to a reasonably level. The problem for Citroen is I think they may have been a little optimistic with their asking price. Having owned both Citroen and Audi cars I'd say you get what you pay for... except if you buy a DS3 which is overpriced even more so than an A1.
